1 Claim.
This invention relates to an illuminated advertising globe.
An object of the invention is to provide a globe of this kind in which the outer portions of the advertising plates forming the sides of the globe, are attractively illuminated by neon or similar lighting means and the central portions of the plates are illuminated by an incandescent electric light disposed centrally in the globe whereby both a variety of coloring effect and equal diffusion of light throughout the advertising plates, may be attained.
Another object is the provision of a globe of this kind in which the illuminating means are arranged in a compact and eflicient manner and in such way as to obviate shadows on the illuminated advertising globe.
These and other objects are attained by the means described herein and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Advertising globes of the general type herein disclosed have been produced heretofore but have been unsatisfactory in various respects particularly as to the proper difiusion of light through the advertising plates. For example, globes have been produced with illuminating means adjacent the peripheries of the advertising plates but these means were insufiicient to illuminate the total areas of the advertising plates so that the central and essential portions thereof were improperly lighted and of little or no advertising value. An-
previous structures of the been the production of shadows on the advertising plates due to the positioning of the electrical media utilized in connection with the edgewise lighting means. These difliculties have been overcome in the present invention by the provision of an advertising globe having edgewise lighting in which the electrical associated media are positioned at the bottom of the globe where there is no possibility of casting shadows on the plates, and likewise by the provision of an incandescent electric light disposed centrally of the globe so that both the interior and the outlying portions of the advertising V plates are well illuminated.
With reference to the drawing: this invention contemplates the use of a substantially annular rim 5 provided with a base 6 and constructed with suitable ways 7 for supporting a pair of frosted advertising plates 8 disposed in spaced relation.
