Description

Oct. 9, 1934. J. c. FORKNER GAME Filed Oct. 27, 1931 m INVENTOR.
I BY ATTORNEY Patented Oct. 9, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE My invention relates to a game. The object I have attained is the construction of a device for amusement, said device being cheap to construct, harmless when used, adapted to require action and develop skill in its use.
More definitely it relates to a device intended to be thrown toward a target, with the purpose of leaving the separable projectile point embedded in the target. The projectile can be easily recovered and another projectile point be easily attached to repeat the proceeding.
in the drawing herewith, Figs. 1 and 2 show difierent forms of darts having portions thereof shown in section. Fig. 3 is a modified form of dart. Fig. 4 shows a tack which is used as a projectile point. Fig. 5 is a modified form of,
projectile point.
Referring to the drawing, I have constructed a main body lll which is approximately cigar shaped or dart shaped, that is, a portion of the body tapers toward one end. The main body can constructed of wood, fibre, papier mache,
or any other suitable material which is preferably in weight. Light material is preferable be- I cause a heavy object when thrown might be dea whirling motion when thrown. Within the enlarged end I have inserted a loadstone, or magnetized bar 12, or a magnet 20 which should be of sufficient drawing strength to hold a tack, or other object constructed with an iron base. The tack or projectile point is designated 13 on the 6% drawing. Another form of projectile shown in Fig. 5 consists of a plate or disc 130, the center portion of which has been pressed outwardly forming a pointed projection 131. A string or rubber 18 may be attached to the projectile so that it can easily be recovered after being thrown.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A game consisting of a projectile having a body portion, one end of the body portion having Ell magnetic means therein adapted to sustain the weight of a tack, the opposite end of said body portion having a guiding means, such as feathers.
2. A game device consisting of a projectile in the form of a dart, the forward end of the dart 7% having magnet means therein, and a separate tack constructed of metal adapted to be attracted and held by said magnet.
3. In a dart adapted to be thrown magnet means at and in the front end of said dart, in 86 combination with a separate metal disc having an extended pointed member thereon, said disc being adapted to be attracted and yieldingly held by said magnet.
i. In a dart adapted to be thrown and having a magnet embedded within said dart, of a projectile member consisting of a tack shaped member constructed of material adapted to be attracted and held by said magnet...
