Referring to the second embodiment of the invention, Figs. 2 and 3, the shuttle l6, cavity 17, spring jaws l8 and 19, cover 20, verticalbolt 21 and horizontal bolt 22 may be substantially the same as the corresponding parts above described, but the parallel notches are different. In this embodiment there are only three notches in each jaw, the two outer notches 23 and 25 being of the same depth while the center notch 24 is relatively deeper and longer than the outer notches.
The filling carrier is comprised of a bobbin 26 having rings 27, 28 and 29 on the butt thereof. These rings are formed of spring steel of circular cross-section and, as above, the distance between adjacent rings is materially less than the diameter of the stock of which they are formed. Unlike the embodiment first described, the rings 27, 28 and 29 may all have the same external diameter, but the center ring 28 still does not engage the spring jaws because of the large size of the center notches 24.
It will be apparent that the construction just described can be used only where a three notch spring is acceptable. However, except for the limitation of the number of notches in the spring jaws this construction is obviously possessed of all the advantages enumerated above in connection with the embodiment of Figs. 1 and 4,
Having fully disclosed the preferred embodiments of my invention, I claim:
1. In a loom shuttle and filling carrier for looms of the bobbin changing type, a shuttle body having a filling-carrier-receiving cavity'therein,
opposed spring jawsat one end of said cavity;
and a filling carrier located in said cavity and having three circumferentially extending rings spaced along the butt thereof, the space between adjacent rings being substantially narrower than the thickness of the rings, the two outer rings being engaged in and held by notches in said spring jaws and the center ring being free of said spring jaws.
2. In a loom shuttle and filling carrier for looms of the bobbin changing type, a shuttle body having a filling-carrier-receiving cavity therein, opposed spring jaws extending along opposite sides of said cavity at one end thereof, said jaws being provided with parallel holding notches extending transversely thereof; and a filling carrier located in said cavity, said filling carrier having three circumferentially extending rings spaced along the butt thereof, said rings being all of substantially the same thickness and the space between adjacent rings being substantially less than saidthickness, the two outer rings only being engaged in and held by said notches and the center ring being free of said spring jaws.
3. In a loom shuttle and filling carrier for looms of the bobbin changing type, a shuttle body having a fil1ing-carrier-receiving cavity therein, opposed spring jaws extending along opposite sides of said cavity at one end thereof, said jaws being provided with parallel holding notches of substantially uniform depth and extending transversely of the jaws; and a filling carrier located in said cavity, said filling carrier having three circumferentially extending rings spaced along the ferred to a loom shuttle, said filling carrier having three circumferentially extending holding rings spaced along the butt thereof, said rings being all of substantially the same thickness and the space between adjacent rings being substantially less than said thickness, the two outer rings having substantially the same external diameter and the center ring having a materially smaller external diameter than said outer rings.
