I'lED STATES E'N'l FFIQE 1,965,327 CONTAINER Ottomar Voelk and Alfred Boenecke, Berlin, Germany Application July 21, 1933, Serial No. 681,646 In Germany December 1'7, 1932 2 Claims.
'This invention relates to a container for cosmetic sticks-and the like.
There are containers for cosmetic sticks known, in which a flexible conveyor band serves for moving the stick in and out and also for closing the container. Containers of this kind require an insertion of complicated structure to provide a guide for the band. I
The main feature of the invention is to eliminate the special insertion and to guide the band in grooves provided on the inner edges of the container which, furthermore, consists of two I pressed whereas the making of a one-piece conaddition to the grooves on the inner edges, two
other grooves are provided on the inner -broad sides of the container, in which corresponding projections of a carrier cap for the stick slide.
Still another feature is that the carrier, cap forming part of the container according to the invention has an inner spring corresponding to the form of the cap for holding the stick in position and permitting sticks of difierent cross sections to be used in connection with the cap.
One form of theinvention is illustrated in the accompanying "drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the container; Fig. 2, a perspective view of the two longitudinal halvesof the container; Fig. 3, a section on the line .III-III, of Fig. 2; and Fig. 4, a longitudinal sec.-
tion of thecarrier cap.
Referring to the drawing, the container or casing 1 consists of two longitudinal halves 1a and 1b, as shown in Fig. 2, which may be produced,
5 projecting through the slit 6 of the container 1. As Fig. 2 indicates, the two longitudinal halves of the container 1 are constructed so as to form the slit 6. The band 4 slides in two inner grooves '7 on the inner edges of the two container halves la and 1b and carries at one end the carrier cap 8 in which the stick 3 is disposed.
As shown in Fig. 4, the carrier cap may have a spring 9 secured-to the lower portion thereof so as to impart a firm hold on the stick within the cap 8 and to permit the accommodation therein of various sizes of sticks. i
The two broad sides of the cap 8 are provided with the projections 10 which slide in two corresponding central grooves ll on the inner broad sides of the two container halves 1a and lb so as to insure easy reciprocating motion of the cap 8 and stick 3.
The container according to the invention can be easily operated, since all that is required is to move the handle 5 up and down to cause the stick 3 to disappear in, or come out of, the container l, as indicated in Figs. 1 and 2. When the stick 3 has disappeared in the container 1 after the handle 5 has been moved up, the other end of the band 4 will serve as a cover.
We claim:---
1. A container for cosmetic sticks or the like, comprising a casing of two equal parts, each part having a cut-out portion on one side forming a slit in the casing and a pair of inner grooves provided in the corners of each part and a central groove between each pair of inner grooves; a retaining cap for one end of the casing into which the two parts are provided to maintain the parts together; a conveyor band in the cas-- in'g provided in and sliding in the inner grooves of the two parts; a carrier cap secured toone end of the band and into which the cosmetic stick is provided, said carrier can having a projection on two opposite sides adapted to slide in the central grooves; and a handle secured to the band and projecting through the slit to move the carrier cap and stick in and out of the casing by means oi the band, the other end of the band forming a closure for the casing when the stick is drawn into the casing.
2. A container according to claim 1, in which the carrier cap is provided with a spring to hold and accommodate diflerent sizes of sticks.
