This invention has for its object a device for air purification by vaporization of an odorous disinfectant.
,v The disinfecting liquid is contained in a can the orifice of which is applied on the device.
This can may be replaced when exhausted. The
liquid coming out from the can passes through a channel closed with a cock and reaches by elbow pipe a perforated drum provided with 19 wings, which is fixed on the spindle of a little electromotor.
Owing to the rotation of the drum, the liquid is vaporized and driven outside, being at the same time projected forward by the wings far away from the device.

The device includes a bracket frame 1 to be fixed to the wall and bearing an electromotor 2 on the spindle of which is secured the drum 4 perforated on its both periphery and front face. The drum is provided inside with a spongeous material 5, and its back wall which is bearing the wings '7 is open so that the end of an elbow pipe 6 which is the inlet of the liquid supplied from the can, projects inside the drum. The said can is closed by a thin metal cap, and. furthermore placed and screwed on the tapped opening 9 of the chamber 10 provided in the block 11. 7 When the can is reversed and. tightly screwed on its seat, the closing cap comes into contact with a knife 12 which perforates the cap, thus allowing the liquid to pour out.
A small hole should be bored into the bottom of the can so as to permit the air to go through. In the chamber 10, liquid runs through a duct 13 to a box 14 the plunger cock 15 of which is mounted on a member 16 provided with a bar 17 submitted to the action of an electromagnet 18. This latter is connected by a wire to the electromotor 2 having a terminal block 19, so that after the same has been connected to an electric source, the motor drives the drum 4 and causes at the same time the opening of the I cook together with the entering of the liquid through the elbow pipe 6 into the drum 4. Ow-
ing to the centrifugal force, the liquid runs through the felt 5, comes out vaporized through the perforations of the drum, and is projected forward very far away from the device. A screw 20 allows the adjustment of the cock flow. By '60 disconnecting the current, the cock is immediately closed, whereas the rotation of the drum is stopped at the same time.
In 21 is a glass gauge stating the contents of the can, and the upper part of it is provided with an air inlet port so as to permit its operation. The gauge is connected to the can by the chamber 10 and a duct 22 arranged into the block 11, Fig. 4.
Instead of being submitted to the action of an '0' electromagnet, the cock 15 may also be mounted, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, on a rod 23 hooked on the end of a lever 24 pivoted in 25 and connected by its other end to a flexible cable 26 which enables to drive the cock from a distant 78 point. the device being sometimes disposed at a certain height in the room to be made healthy.
A return spring 2'7 tends to move the cock into its closing position. The rod 23 bears a member 28 on which are linked the ends of levers 29 mounted on conducting terminals 30 which are brought into contact with conducting terminals 31 when the cock is open. The conducting terminals 30 and 31 are connected to the current circuit of the motor, making thus an interruptor which only allows the motor to run when the cock is open. The levers 29 are moved to their operative position when the cable 26 is pulled downward (looking in the direction of Figures 5 and 6); then the oscillatory lever 24, to which the cable 26 is attached, will pull the rod 23 upwards. Since the rod 23 is connected with the lever 29 through the medium of the member 28, the lever 29 will be moved together with the rod 23 until it comes in contact with the conducting terminals 31 and closes an electrical circuit. As soon as the cable 26 is released, the spring 2'? will push the cock and the rod 23 downward, the lever 29 will move together with the rod 23 and the electrical connection between the terminals 30 and 31 will be interrupted.
The drum 4 may be replaced by a disc 32 perforated with holes 33, cut out and flanged so as to get the blades 34 in substitution for the V wings 7, the inlet 6 for the liquid reaching a fixed drum 35 provided with a spongeous material 36. I
The device is to be used for air disinfection, odorization, humidification, and destruction of insects; it may also be employed in the medical applications for inhalations, vaporizations on the epidermis, &c. and as an efiicient agent against the toxic gases. One or several cans may be used, the contents of which are poured 5 out into the vaporizing drum by means of a suitable number of elbow pipes 6.
Together with the outsides wings, the drum 4 may be provided with inside wings which, owing to the centrifugal force, would eject the purifying agent.
Instead of being fixed, the device may be oscillatory, rotative or used like a ceiling apparatus.
Having now described the object of this invention and in which manner same is to be performed, What I claim is:
1. In an air purifying device, a frame, an electromotor carried by said frame, a perforated hollow drum operatively connected with said electromotor, wings attached to said drum, a can containing the purifying agent, a block connected with said frame and carrying said can, means connected with said block for automatically opening said can, a chamber formed min said block, a channel formed in said block and connecting said chamber with the interior of saidrdrum, and a plunger cock interposed between said chamber and said drum, said cock acting in synchronism with said electromotor.
2. In an air purifying device, a frame, an electromotor carried by said frame, a hollow drum operatively connected with said electromotor, the front surface and the side surfaces of said drum being perforated, wings attached ;to said drum, a spongeous material inside said drum to absorb the purifying agent, a can con taining the purifying agent, a block connected with said frame and carrying said can, said block comprising a passage for the purifying 4g-zagent, and a pipe communicating with said passage and having an end projecting inside said drum.
3. In an.air purifying device, a frame, an electromotor carried by said frame, a perforated 5- -hollow drum operatively connected with said electromotor, wings attached to a can containing the purifying agent, a block connected with said frame and carrying said can, said can being adapted to be screwed onto said block, and a vertical knife carried by said block and adapted to form an opening in said can while it is being screwed onto said block.
4. In an air purifying device, a frame, an electromotor carried by said frame, a hollow drum operatively connected with said electromotor, wings attached to said drum, a can conin said block and adapted to receive the vaporizing agent contained in said can, a channel formed in said block and leading from said chamber to said drum, a plunger cock interposed between said chamber and said drum, a bar connected with said cock, and an electromagnet connected with said electromotor and adapted to attract said bar.
5. In an air purifying device, a frame, an electromotor carried by said frame, a perforated hollow drum operatively connected with said electromotor, wings attached to said drum, a can containing the purifying agent, a block connected with said frame and carrying said can, a chamber formed in said block, a channel formed in said block and connecting said chamber with the interior of said drum, a plunger cock interposed between said chamber and said drum, said cock acting in synchronism with said electromotor, means connected with said cock foractuating the same at adistance, and means connected with said cock and said electromotor for switching on the latter when said cock is open.
6. In an air purifying device, a frame, an electromotor carried by said frame, a drum rigidly connected with said electromotor, a spindle connected with and driven by said electromotor, said spindle passing through said drum, a flanged disc connected and rotatable along with said spindle, a can containing the purifying agent, a block connected with said frame and carrying said can, a chamber formed in said block, a channel formed in said block and connecting said chamber with the interior of said drum, and a plunger cock interposed between said chamber and said drum, said cock acting in synchronism with said electromotor.
7. In an air purifying device, a frame, an electromotor carried by said frame, a perforated hollow drum operatively connected with said 120 electromotor, wings attached to said drum and situated on the exterior surfaces and inner surfaces thereof, a can containing the purifying agent, a block connected with said frame and carrying said can, a chamber formed in said block, a channel formed in said block and connecting said chamber with the interior of said drum, and a plunger cock interposed between said chamber and said drum, said cock acting in synchronism with said electromotor. 130' MICHEL TORREBADELLA.
