101' the elongation of a table leg and is particularly suited for use upon a conventional bridge table or the like. The utility of the device in no way, however, is limited to bridge tables, but on the contrary, its use for other articles of furniture is legion.

Among the objects of the invention are the following A new and improved means for lengthening a table leg or similar device.

Figure 3 is a plan view of a blank from which the device shown in Figure 2 is adapted to be folded.

One leg only of a table is shown. Each leg of such a table such as is illustrated will be equipped with a device similar to that shown in the several figures of the drawing.

12 and 13 are opposed apertures. One pair of such apertures 20 is adapted to receive a tightening screw 21 and its socket 22. Through each of the other pair of apertures 23 a screw or tack may be inserted for m penetration into the leg 10 when a permanent attachment of the device to the table leg 10 is desired. In said

12 and 13, there also may be formed teeth 25, which teeth come into contact with the material of a table leg 10 and bite thereinto upon tightening of screw 21 in socket 22 to prevent accidental displacement of the device longitudinally of table leg 10.

In the foregoing description, the manner in which the material of the blank shown in Figure 3 is folded is set forth. When such blank is folded to provide a device shown in Figures 2 and 3, it is moved longitudinally of the table leg 10. Generally, the space between the

12 and 13 is such that at least slight frictional engagement with the table leg is had. Close fric tional engagement is also had between the material of the table leg and flanges 15, 1'7, 18 and 19, so that the device is held against angular displacement on the table leg. When any desired adjustment is obtained, the adjusting screw 21 is tightened in socket 22 and the

12 and 13 are thus made to hear more tightly upon the table leg 16, accidental displacement of the device longitudinally of the leg then being posiq tively prevented. Such screw also provides a stop limiting the extension of a table leg into the sleeve formed by the blank herein described.

As stated previously, a screw or tack may be inserted in the aperture 23 to make the attachment permanent after any adjustment is made in respect thereto.

When teeth 25 are employed, the tightening of the adjusting screw causes the pointed ends thereof to bite into the ieg as previously stated, thus giving the connection between the leg and device great security without the addition of a tack through aperture 23.

The teeth 25 and the apertures 23 for the insertion of tacks or screws into the leg of the table may be omitted if desired.
