T0 all LU/1,0m 'it may concern j `Be it known that I, JosnPI-Ir J. ya citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State ot Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Stretchers, oi which the following is a specification.`
T he present invention relates broadly to in'iprovements in curtain stretchers and has for its principal object to provide an inrproved iitting which is adapted for use at the j'unctures of the stretcher trames so las to join the longitudinal members thereof with the transverse members so that they may be held together and adjusted as may be desired.
Another obj ect of the invention is to provide a curtain stretcher fitting of this nature which is simple and efficient, reliable, inexpensive to manufacture, and well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed. W ith the above objects and others in View, as will appear the description proceeds, the invention comprises the various novel features ot construction and arrangement oi parts which will be more fully described hereinafter and particularly claimed.
Reference is had to the accompanying` drawings 'forming apart of this application in which like characters indicate the corresponding parts throughout the several views and wherein.
Figure 1 is a plan vview showing one form ot the fitting in use,
Figure 2 is a perspective of the clip,
AFigure 3 is an elevation ot amodified forni ot the clip,
Figure t 'is a perspective thereof, and
Figure 5 is a detailed enlarged view showinqj the screw and shoe therefor.
referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the fitting shown in Figures 1 and 2 comprises a body 1 `which is provided with right angled extensions 2 and 3 at opposite ends. `The extension 3 is provided with an overhanging lip 4 extending parallel with the body 1 and toward the eX-A tension 3. yThe extension 3 is provided with a pair of threaded apertures 5. The other opposite ends of the body 1 are provided with the extensions 6 and 7. rlhe extension G is provided with an overhanging lip 8 which extends parallel with the body 1 and toward extension 7. Theextension 6 is also provided with threaded apertures 9.` The apertures 5 and 9 are adapted to receive the SOLDAT,
V'threaded screws 10 which are operable by the handles 11 andl on theirhinner ends' are provided with slices 12 which are adapted to engage the curtain stretcher members 13.
In Figures 3 and 1lanother modification et the htting .is disclosed which comprises j the body portion lhaving onopposite ends the extensions 2 and 3. The ei-:tensiou' is provided with the over-hanging lip 4t extending` toward the extension 3'.' The ension 3 is provided with the threaded On the opposite endsot 'the body l there is provided the extensions 7 and 6. lLhe extension 7 is pro-videdv with a threaded aperture 15 and the extension 6 is provided with an overhanging lip 8 having therein a threaded aperture 16. These apertures 5, 15, and 16 are adapted to receive screws 10 `for holding the` members 13 is shown in Figure 3.
These tittin gs are used :tor supporting two crossing members of a curtain stretcher such as isy now commonly in use and these cross ing members may be adjusted in relation to each other as may be desired by loosening up upon the screws 10. A use of the first modification is shownin Figure 1 while the use ot the second modication is shown in Figure 3. It is thought that the construction and roperation of the fittings will be clearly understood without a more detailed description thereof but it is desired to point out that numerous changes may be resorted `to in. the details of construction and in the arrangement ot parts without departing trom the spirit of the invention as hereinutter claimed. j f Having thus descri bed my invention what 'lv claim as new is j 1. A, curtain stretiieher fitting including a body having angular extensions projecting trom one pair oi" i ts opposite ends, a lippro. f
jecting from one of said extensions in `the direction of the other extension and parallel with the body, the other of said extensionsr vided with a shoe and a handle at its oppo-S site ends, said `body also provided with angular extensions at its other opposite ends y `projecting in anl opposite direction from the First mentioned extensions, a lip projecting trom one ot said last mentioned extensions .in the direction 'ofthe other last mentioned extension and parallel with the body. the
lil O other ot' said last mentioned extensions provided with an aperture7 and e second screw member receivable in said lest mentioned aperture and including` a shoe and handle at opposite ends. y
As an article of manufacture7 a. Curtain l. stretcher fitting comprising a. body having angular-ly extending flat lips at onepeir of opposite ends, one only of said extensions being provided with ejlip extending parallel 'with the body and at its opposite ends with similarly constructed angularly ex-
