Description

Patented Apr. 17, 1934 UNITED ATENT FFHCE 2 Claims.
This invention relates to a novel form of paper article and the object thereof is to provide a receptacle which may be cheaply made and yet serve a variety of uses. The invention will be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure l is a plan View showing one form of the invention;
Figure 2 is a similar View of a modified form;
Figure 3 shows the article of Figure 1 in perspective and with the same folded along its central longitudinal opening;
Figure 4 is a section on line 44, Figure 1; and
Figure 5 is a section on the line 55, Figure 3.
Referring to the drawing the bag or envelope is formed from a blank folded as shown in Figure 4 and having a lower wall 2 and an upper wall 4 together with closing flaps 6 which are prolongations of the lower wall 2 and which are folded over and pasted down on to the wall 4. The wall 4 has a central longitudinal opening as indicated by dotted lines 7, Figure 1, and a flap 8 having a tab 9 may be provided as shown in Figure 1 or a plain flap 8 as shown in Figure 2. The iongitudinal opening extends only to the edges of the overlapping flaps 6. With such a construction articles may be readily slipped into the bag and if desired a line of fold may be formed along the lower wall in line with the opening in the upper wall as indicated in Figure 3, thereby providing pockets as shown in Figure 5. When used in this manner a slit 10 may be formed as shown in Figures 3 and 5 into which the tab 9 may be inserted.
Other variations may be resorted to within the spirit of the invention as, for instance, the lower wall may be made of heavier material than the upper wall or a portion of one wall may be made of different material or of differently colored paper from the other wall. Also the lip or flap 8 may be provided with a line of paste for sealing if desired.
What I claim as new is:-
1. A paper bag having upper and lower walls and flaps closing the ends of the bag, and an opening extending from end to end in one wall but terminating at the closing flaps, the other wall having a line of fold along said opening and including the end flaps.
2. A paper bag having upper and lower walls and flaps closing the ends of the bag, an opening extending longitudinally of one wall but terminating at the closing flaps, said bag adapted to be so folded as to include the end flaps and to form longitudinally extending pockets.
