Description

April 17, 1934. GERARD 1,955,419
TONSORIAL INSTRUMENT CASE Filed Aug. 22, 1932 I I 6 I9 2 awe/whom JOSEPH GERARD Joseph Gerard, Washington, D. G.
August 4 Siaiins.
My invention relates to barbers instrument case, and one that contains all of the instruments ne e c the removal of ingrowing oils and other kindred ailiace and neck of the vision septic solute-n may be contained for sterilization the instruments housed therein.
A further object of my invention is the provisi of means on the tweezer arms, forming finger for the operator.
A further object of my invention is the provision of means on one end of the body so formed that it may be used as a paper cutter, letter opener, etc.
A still further object of my invention is the provision of a barbers instrument case containing a plurality of instruments, one that is cheap to manufacture, and one that can be placed on the market at a minimum cost.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangements and formation of parts as will be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:-
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of my improved instrument case.
Figure 2 is a top plan View of the instrument case.
Figure 3 is an elevational sectional view showing the instruments housed in the case.
Figure 4 is a cross sectional View taken on line l4= of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a cross sectional View taken on line 5-5 of Figure 2.
Figure 6 is an enlarged detail fragmentary View of the tweezers showing the plurality of concaves on the tweezer arms forming finger grips.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 generally indicates the body of my instrument case, and by preference the body is of substantially elliptical configuration. The
1932, Serial No. 629,339
(ill. MiG-16) body 5 is provided with a pair of longitudinal bores 6 and '7 defining chambers.
The chambers 6 7 are separated by a divisional wall 8 approximately mid-way the ends thereof, the open of the chambers being provided on the inner lls with internal threads as represented by Ill, connecting members ll and 1?. are engageable respectively with impinge the end faces of the body 5.
The connectin members 11 and Beach have a flanged body 13 and i l of substantially elliptical configuration, conforming to the body 5. Each of the flanged bodies 14: is provided on its inner faces with a threaded shank i5 and 16, and these threaded shanks are engageable respectively with the internal threaded openings 9 and 10. The flanged bodies and 1a are further provided on their outer faces respectively with a reduced threaded shank 1'? and 18. The threaded shanks in each instance are integral with the flanged bodies 13 and 14.
The member 11 has on the end of its threaded shank l5 pair of arms 19 defining tweezers, the ends of the arms 20 being bent forming gripping members. The arms extend into the chamber 6 and termmate short of the face of the divisional Wall. of said chamber. Each of the arms 19 is further provided with a plurality of concaves 21,
and these concaves define finger grips for the operator. Within the chamber 6 an antiseptic solution may be containe and hermetically sealed in the chamber by the screw threaded shank 15, the antiseptic solution acting as a sterilization medium for the tweezer of the connecting member 11 engages the internal threads of the end member 22, which is of substantially elliptical configuration having its top and bottom faces tapering towards its end 23. The edges 24 and 25 of the member 22 serve a utilitarian purpose, and may be used as a paper cutter, letter opener and the like.
The member 12 has on the end of its threaded shank 16 a lance 26 which is housed in the chamber '7. Into the chamber 7 an antiseptic solution is contained which serves as a sterilizing medium for the lance.
A rear end cap member 27 of substantially elliptical configuration, having a bore 28 defining a chamber and having a threaded opening, is
attachable to the threaded shwk 18 of the connecting member 12. On the end of the shank 18 of the connecting member 12 is provided a scalpel 29 which is housed in the chamber 28, and into. which chamber an antiseptic solution is con- I The shank 17 E tained, serving as a sterilizing medium for the scalpel.
My device embodies in one case in a compact manner, all of the essential instruments necessary for use by a barber in the removal of ingrowing hairs, blackheads and the like and at the same time provides means for keeping the instruments contained in the body of the case sterilized and sanitary. By providing connecting members having screw shanks, the respective instruments may be readily removed from the case as the needs of the operator demand.
My device is susceptible to different modifications, and changes may be made in details Without departing from the spirit or scope of my invention.
What I claim is:
1. In a tonsorial instrument case, comprising a body of substantially elliptical configuration in cross section, having a pair of bores therein defining chambers, a divisional wall separating said chambers, connecting members each having a flange of substantially elliptical configuration in cross section, shanks on each face of said connecting members, the inner shanks of each of said connecting members engaging the openings in the chambers, the outer shank of one of said connecting members having detachably secured thereto a member of substantially elliptical configuration in cross section having a bore receiving the outer shank, said member tapering towards its outer end.
2. A tonsorial instrument case comprising a body portion of elliptical configuration in cross section, connecting members each having a flange of elliptical configuration, a tail cap member of substantially elliptical configuration detachably secured to one of said connecting members, a head member of substantially elliptical configuration detachably secured to the other of said connecting member, said connecting members having connecting shanks on each face of said flange members, the inner shanks engaging bores in the body, the outer shanks of each of said connecting members engaging recesses in the said tail cap and head member respectively.
3. A tonsorial instrument case comprising a body portion of elliptical configuration in cross section, connecting members each having a flange conforming to the configuration of the body portion, a tail cap member conforming to the configuration or" the body member and flange of one of the connecting members, a head member conforming to the configuration of the other connecting member and body portion, said head member tapering towards one of its ends, shanks on each face of the said connecting members, the inner shanks engaging bores in the body portion and detachably secured thereto, the outer shanks of said connecting members detachably securing the tail cap member and the head member respectively the 'eto, said tail cap memher and head member having bores therein.
4. A tonso:ial instrument case comprising a single body portion of elliptical configuration in cross section, said body portion being bored longitudinally from each end thereof, said bores being separated by a partition substantially midway of body portion, said bores adapted to contain. a solution, each end of the bores being closed at the ends of the body portion by elliptical shaped members, said members on each side 1 thereof having shanks, said shanks being adapted to receive tonsorial instruments, said shanks beof such configuration as to fit into said bores in liquid sealing fashion, a recess cap removably fitted to a shank of one of said members,
said recess enclosing an instrument and adapted to contain a solution, the other of said members having attached to one of its shanks a head member of substantially elliptical configuration, said member tapering towards one of its ends.
