Description

April 17, 1934. w. J. BRAGGER JOINT FOR DISPEN'SING APPARATUS Filed July 50 Patented Apr. 17, 1934 UNETED STATES PATENT JOINT FORV DISPENSING APPARATUS Application July 30, 1932, Serial No. 626,721
` 1 Claim.
My invention relates to soda fountain accessoriesand has for anobject the provision of a bracket whereby a syrup dispenser or any other receptacle capable of being employed for other purposes may be supported upon one of the draft tubes which form one of the essential parts of the conventional soda fountains.
Another object is to provide a bracket which is adjustable to properly support the receptacle in l vertical position regardless of the angularity of the draft tube upon which the bracket is secured.
A still further object is the provision of a bracket exceedingly simple of construction and allows of instant adjustment so as to hold the l5. syrup dispenser in vertical position and yet it prevents an accidental disengagement of the component parts of the bracket and accidental falling of the dispenser.
With the above and other objects in View which 2u will appear as the description proceeds, my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of the specification, I have illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention and in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a soda fountain and showing the dispensing apparatus of" the present invention in operative pogo sition.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on line 3--3 of Figure 2.
gs Fig. 4 is a vertical section taken on line 4 4 of Figure 2.
Fig. 5 is a vertical section taken on line 5-5 of Figure 2.
Fig. 6 is a horizontal section taken through the clamp member showing a modified construction of the draft tube and the clamping members.
At the present time there are many kinds of beverages and beverage syrups available upon the market for which such a large demand has developed that in order to meet trade requirements soda fountains must be provided with several dispensing receptacles adapted to contain these syrups or beverages. However, the characteristics of soda fountains are such that the 5G Acounter area thereof is materially restricted with CII.
the result that a considerable amount of' incon-` venience is caused by the presence of a number of these receptacles upon the surface of the counter. The device of the present invention is adapted to overcome this undesirable condition by providing means for supporting such receptacles upon the draft tubes of the conventional soda fountain. In Figure 1 is shown a pair of brackets constructed in accordance with the principle of the present invention and mounted upon the raft tubes 11 of a conventional soda fountain 12 that are capable of supporting syrup dispensing receptacles 13 thereupon and thus save the amount of space upon the counter 14 which would otherwise be occupied by the receptacles 13.
A two part clamp l5 is adapted to be secured upon the draft tube 11 which in the present instance is shown as fluted or ribbed, being provided with vertical ribs 11. The clamp l5 comprises 701 two members 16 and 17 adapted to encircle the draft tube 11. Spacing washers 18 are disposed between the draft tube l1 and the members 16 and 17, such spacing members 18 being shaped to conform to the contour of the draft tube 11 so 753 that when the members 16 and 17 are bolted together by bolts 19 and 2U the clamp 15, with its spacing members 18, will form a solid structure about the draft tube 1l. 21 is a holder for the syrup dispenser 13 and may be of any suitable shape to hold the dispenser 13. In the present instance it is shown as cylindrical having recesses 21 and 212 in the front and rear 'for the reception of a faucet 13 of the dispenser 13. In the present instance the dispenser 13 has its lower part flt 85j snugly into the holder 21, being also provided with a bead 132 resting upon the upper edge of the holder 2l. An adapter 22, conical in shape, is interposed between the holder 21 and the clamp 15, which is provided with means whereby the holder 21 may be adjusted in position on two horizontal axes at right angles to one another, as will be presently described. The adapter 22 is provided with a boss 23 having a flat circular face 24 provided with a V shaped circular groove or 95 channel 25 adapted to receive a correspondingly shaped bead 26 on the clamping member 17. The bolt 20 is tapped in the boss 23 so that the adapter 22 may be adjusted on a horizontal axis represented by the bolt 20 and locked into adjusted position by said bolt. The boss 23 is also provided with a stop pin 27 projecting into a slot 28 in the face of the clamping member 17. A circular face 29 of the adapter 22 is disposed at right angles to the face 23 and is likewise provided with a circular groove 30, V shaped in cross section, for the reception of a correspondingly shaped bead 31 on a boss 32 of the holder 21. The boss 32 is recessed and divided by radial fins 33 into a plurality of slots or sockets 34. A pin 35, projecting from the face 29 into one of said slots 34, acts as as a stop but permits adjustment of the holder 21 in relation to the adapter 22 on a horizontal axis represented by the bolt 36 passing from the apex of the adapter 22 into the boss 32 of the holder 21.
In the use of the device the clamping members 16 and 17 are assembled to encircle the draft tube l1, spacing members 18 having been selected to completely iill the space between the draft tube 1l and the clamping members 16 and 17. In case the draft tube should be approximately ,cylindrical Without being uted then ordinary spacing members 37, shown in the modification of Figure 6, rare employed. The adapter 22 is positioned so that the stop pin 27 projects into the corresponding slot 23 and the ribs 26 on the clamping member 17 t into the corresponding groove 25 on the adapter. The bolt 20 is now tightened, locking the adapter 22 to the clamping member 15. In the same manner the holder 21 is assembled in relation to the adapter 22 and the bolt 36 is tightened locking the holder to the adapter 22 in adjusted position. It will be understood that ir the holder 21 is not in perfectly true horizontal position, by loosening bolts 20 and 36 the holder may be quickly adjusted to true horizontal position and by tightening bolts 20 land 36 the clamping member 15, the adapter 22 and lthe holder 21 will form one rigid unitary structure. It should be noted that when the bolts 20 and 36 are loosened the adapter 22 and the holder 21 will be alloWed only limited rotary movement on the vhorizontal axes represented by bolts 20 and 36 by reason ofthe stop pins 27 and 35 respectively being confined in their respective sockets so that an accidental rotation of the holder 21 causing the dispenser 13 to fall from the holder is prevented.
Various changes may be made by those skilled in the art in the details of costruction Without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention .as dened vby the appended claims.
I claim:
A joint comprising a pair of supporting members spaced from each other, each member having -a flat face disposed at right angles to the other, an adapter having a pair of flat faces adapted to engage and register with the faces of the members, the engaging faces of the members and the adapter being provided With a circular bead V shaped in cross section on one face and a complementary groove for the reception of the bead on the other, bolts for locking the members and the adapter in angular adjustment, stop means limiting the angular adjustment including a plurality of radial ribs on one of said engaging faces dividing ythe face into a plurality of slots, and a pin on the other face engaging one of said slots.
