This invention relates to refrigeration-chilling understood from the foregoing. The articles or apparatus, and more particularly apparatus for material to be treated are placed successively in chilling articles or materials by exposure to suita frame 2 assembled with its bottom leaf 3 and a able media; and it is among the objects of the corresponding leaf is then applied to the top invention to provide a construction presenting thereof, and successive frame-units are thus thorough exposure to refrigeration, while holding filled and stacked. For example, if it is desired to uniformly the articles undergoing treatment. A chill bacon to prepare the same for a slicing mafurther object is the provision of apparatus allowchine, the pieces of bacon are positioned in reing an advantageous latitude of capacity range. spective frames 2 assembled with the bottom leaf Other objects and advantages will appear as the 3, the top leaf is applied. successively charged description proceeds. units brought together in this manner are stacked To the accomplishment of the foregoing and Within the standards '7, the top yokes 9 are aplelated ends, the invention, then, comprises the plied thereto, and the nuts 10, and the latter are features hereinafter fully described, and particturned down to a desired degree. The entire y pointed Out in e a t f OWi stack may then be conveniently handled into the description and the annexed drawing setting chilling compartment, and by reason of the thorforth in detail an illustrative embodiment of the ough exposure of the chilling media through the invention, this being indicative however, of but p ys i a d 011 a S des f each u it With one of the various ways in which the principle its contained material, the temperature of the f the invention may be employed. latter is readily brought uniformly to the desired In said annexed drawing: point, and irrespective of the number of pieces Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of an embodibeing treated in any given StaCk, the total ment of the invention; and Figs. 2 and 3 are pernumber in the compartment, all are treated uni- :pective detail views. formly. To the extent that molding pressure is Referring more particularly to the drawing, desired, the take-up means as exemplified in the there is shown a plurality of frames 2, each face mpr ss on nuts 0 y he availed of, and n or top and bottom of which is closed by a chill such manner a uniformity of appearance of the leaf 3, and passage-ways 4 for cooling media are treated bacon slabs may be had.
