'4 Claims. (Cl. 4137) My invention relates to a childsportable toilet case or other container. My device provides a or toilet seat and particularly to a device of this toilet seat and a chamber within a travelingcharacter contained in and forming a part of case, adapted to be used for the child's toilet a traveling case or carrying case and to a chamneeds without removal, unpacking or preparation 5 ber of a particular typ'eof construction adapted of the parts of the device for use, and further 90 to be used and carried therein. adapted to be transported as a whole in the same Much, trouble and inconvemence are experimanner as the ordinary traveling-case without enced in caring for the frequent toilet needs of packing, folding or preparation of any kind, and infants and young children in' the home and made ready for transportation immediately by more especially while away from home visiting merely closing the case. or traveling by train or automobile. Often times A still further object of the invention is the when the child needs attention either there is provision of a chamber so designed and conno toilet available, or it is inconvenient for the structed that it may be placed in a traveling mother to leave her duties for the length of time case, may be used in its usual upright position 15 which would be required. to take the .child to for a childs toilet needs, and, when the traveling the toilet. The need of a portable toilet or toilet case is being carried, will without alteration of seat has long been experienced. My invention comprises a toilet seat 1 secured 45 One of the objects of my invention is the proin a traveling-case or carrying-case 2 by hinges vision of a childs toilet or toilet seat, incor- 3, which may be at the rear side of the seat, as porated in a traveling-case, and so constructed, shown, or at one of the ends. The hinged attacharranged and secured therein as to be in compact ment of the seat permits it to be raised to provide condition, conveniently portable and immediateaccess to the interior of the case beneath. When 50 ly accessible and ready for use. in use, however, the seat will be down, as shown Another object of my invention is a compact in Figure 2. The seat 1 has a toilet opening 4 childs toilet which may be made ready for toilet therein, and behind the opening a combined lid use or for transportation without the trouble and back-rest 5 is secured to the seat by hinges and inconvenience of folding the seat and pack- 6. The lid is provided with a brace 7 secured 55 ing the folded seat and chamber into a carryingthereto by hinges 8, and adapted to be placed 1 10 in the position shown in Figure 2 to act as a support for the lid to enable it to function as a backrest, and adapted to be turned down flat against the lid as shown in Figures 3 and 4, when the case is to be transported. The lid 5 when in closed position may be fastened to the seat by a snapfastener 910.
Directly beneath the opening 4 in seat 1 the chamber 11 is positioned. The chamber is of special design for use in the traveling-case, having an upper rim 12, a handle 13 and an off-set Well or compartment 14 which receives and holds the contents of the chamber without danger of spilling when the chamber is turned over on its side, as in Figure 3, when the traveling-case is in position to be carried. To function in this manner the chamber is positioned in the case 2 with its well portion 14 to the rear (as in Figure 2), so that it will be the lowermost part of the chamber when the case is closed and stood on its bottom 15 (as in Figure 3) or carried by its handle 16. The chamber 11 is braced and retained securely in its place beneath the opening 4 by a block 17 secured to the inside walls of case 2 at the front (when in use) or top (when being carried) and by other fixed blocks or partitions 18, 19 upon the tops of which the rim 12 of the chamber rests and is clamped by engagement of seat 1, which is supported at its free end upon a block or bracket 20, to which it may be detachably secured by a snap-fastener 21. To insure a firm, tight clamping engagement and prevent slipping and rattling of the chamber when the case is moved, a washer 22, preferably of felt, may be secured to the under side of seat 1 to lie between the seat and the rim of the chamber engaged by it.
The space within the case 2, between partitions 18, 19 and the end walls of the case afiords compartments 23 and 24 which may be utilized for storing and carrying articles of clothing and various toilet accessories for the child. A pocket or pockets 30 may also be provided in the lid 25 of the case for the reception of the childs dresses or other clothing. Lid 25 is hingedly secured to case 2 in the usual manner, and when open swings back sufficiently far to'remain open when the device is in theposition shown in Figures 1 and p 2; it is provided with the usual straps 28 to prevent it from opening too far, and with catches 2627 of any suitable construction for fastening the case in closed condition.
Instead of the form of chamber 11 illustrated,
with substantially straight side walls, a chamber having a constricted mouth formed by drawing in the upper portion of the symmetrical side walls, may be used.
I claim:
1. A childs portable toilet comprising a traveling case having a handle and adapted to be carried by hand, said case having a body portion and a lid hinged thereto, a toilet seat hinged to said case between the body portion and lid and having a toilet opening, a cover for said opening hinged to said seat, bracing means on said cover for supporting said cover in raised position to form a back rest for the child, a chamber in the body portion of said case beneath said seat and means for holding said chamber in fixed position when said case is in position for use of said toilet seat or is in position to be carried.
2. A childs portable toilet comprising a traveling case having a body portion with a bottom wall, a side wall and end Walls, a lid secured to said body portion, a toilet seat hingedly secured to said case between the body portion and lid, and supported for use on the walls thereof, a chamber having an off-set well portion, said chamber being disposed in the body portion of said case beneath said seat, with its off-set well portion at the rear of the seat adjacent the bottom of said case, whereby said off-set well portion will be the bottom of said chamber and at the bottom of said case when said case is transported in the usual manner.
3. A childsportable toilet comprising a traveling-case having a body portion and a hinged lid therefor, a toilet seat hingedly secured in said traveling-case, and a chamber disposed in said body portion beneath said seat, said chamber having its side walls substantially symmetrical, except at one side where it is extended to form an oif-set well portion, the upper wall of said well portion extending substantially at right angles from the side of the chamber substantially midway between its top and bottom.
4. A childs portable toilet comprising a traveling-case having a handle and adapted to be carried by hand, said case having a body portion and a lid hinged thereto, a toilet seat hingedly secured to said case between the body portion and lid, and a chamber supported on the body portion of said casing beneath said seat and clamped in position between said body portion and said seat by engagement of said seat with the top thereof.
