With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes an oblong cushion body made of metal, hard rubber composition the keeper or any other suitable material and from one end of the body projects a screw 6 so that the body may be engaged by a baseboard 7. The other end has a groove 8 extending thereabout thereby forming a neck 9 connecting a head 10 with the body and the head is beveled as indicated at 11.
The letter K denotes generally a keeper formed of spring metal'or any other suitable material to provide a plate 12 with sides 14 projecting therefrom and terminating in inwardly curved flanges or jaws 15. It will be noted that the keeper is in the form of a socket and that the sidesthereof are mutually separated through the medium of 'slits 18 which slits extend to the edges of the flanges or jaws 15. A screw 17 extends outwardly from the center of the plate 12 so that the same may be engaged with the door in such a manner that when the door is swung open the jaw flanges 15 engage the bevels 11 and-snap over the head 10' to engage in the groove 8-and in so doing banging of the door is prevented as the resistance caused by the necessary expansion of the clip jaws will slacken up the speed of the door slowly and when these clip jaws are engaged with the head so as to be seated in the groove 8, the door will be prevented from accidentally closing.
If desired, and preferably as shown, the keeper K is provided with an outer sleeve or coveringv 0 formed of rubber or other suitable elastic material. The covering C as shown extends along the sides of the keeper K, and being of resilient material will normally urge the sides 14 of the keeper inwardly toward the center, and will offer suflicient resistance to the tendency of said sides to swing outwardly upon engagement of the member 5 with the keeper K. The covering C is as shown in the form of an endless sleeve of a-shape conforming to the shape of the socket.
Itis thought that the construction, operation, utility and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood by those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been des'cribedin considerable detail merely for the purposes of exempliflcation since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of the parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is: 1
.In a combination door stop and cushion, an elongated cushion body substantially rectangular in cross section and provided at one end with means for securing it to a wall, and ata relatively opposite end with a head, non-circular in cross section, together with a groove behind the head and beveled faces at the marginal edge of the head on the side thereof opposite to the groove, and a socket to engage said head comprising a metallic plate provided at the. center thereof with' means for securingit to a door, said plate having integral sides projecting forwardly therefrom, said sides being arranged-at substantially right angles to one another about the plate to provide a wall for thesocket, and said sides being alsojaws.
