SHEET PAPER PACKAGE Filed Aug. 26, 1952 #HMMWH'WJMW i? ATTORNEY. l
Patented Feb. 13, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT CFFICE Application August 26,
6 Claims.
My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a sheet paper package and has for its object the provision of a structure whereby a plurality of sheets may be secured to a suitable supporting body and enclosed thereby while always in a convenient position for removal therefrom.
It is another object of the invention to provide a supporting body to which a number of sheets of paper may be attached so that when folded onto the main structure of the body the side parts thereof may be folded thereover for enclosing the same While the sheets will be easily accessible for tearing from the fastening means for securing the same to the supporting body.
Another object of the invention is to provide a paper supporting package in which paper sheets may be supported and easily removed individually therefrom and in which one face of the package will serve as an advertising medium and display surface for various purposes.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and i claimed.
The invention will be best understood by a reference to the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification, and in which,
Fig. 1 is a plan View of the blank from which the enclosing body is made.
Fig. 2 is a rear view of the package in closed form.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a sectional View taken on line 4 4 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary front elevational view of the package in closed form.
The device is formed from a blank which is illustrated in Fig. 1 and which is preferably made from light cardboard which will permit folding of various parts upon each other to form an enclosing package. The structure comprises a central panel or main body 7 having side flaps 8 and 9 which are foldable onto the central panel 'l along the lines 10 and l1 respectively. An end flap 12 projects from one end of the central panel 'l' and is foldable thereover on the line 13. This line 13 of folding is extended beyond the end edges of the side panels 8 and 9. Stitched to the end flap 12, which serves as a supporting body, by means of the metal staples 15 is a plurality of sheets of paper 14. These sheets of paper are, of course, of a predetermined size both as to width and .length and when stitched to the ^flap 12 and the 1932. Serial No. 630,569
(C1. 20s- 57) j flap 12 is folded upon the central panel 7 at line 13 the sheets of paper will terminate slightly above the lower edge of the panel '7, as clearly appears in Fig. 4. The side flaps 8 and 9 are then folded inwardly over the sheets of paper which lie upon the central panel 7 thus serving to enclose these sheets of paper and protect the same from dust, etc.
The side flap 9 is provided with tongues 16 and 18 adapted to engage in slots 17 and 19 respectively, formed in the side flap 8. The corner pieces 29 of each of the side flaps 9 and 8 may be torn away at the perforations 20, so that when the side aps are secured in overlapping position the lower portion of the sheets of paper 15 may 'I0 be easily and quickly grasped at the portion exposed at the slot 30 thus formed.
The end flap 12 is provided with an opening 22 which is adapted to register with an opening 21 formed centrally adjacent the upper end of the central panel 7 so that when the end flap 12 is folded upon the central panel 7 at the line 13 these openings 21 and 22 will register and a suitable gromet 23 is secured therein to provide an eyelet whereby the device may be hung from a nail, hook, or the like. The flaps 8 and 9 form the rear surfaces of the package when in closed position and the outer surface of the central panel 7 is exposed. It is intended to divide this outer surface into a plurality of sections as 24 of display area on which ornamental designs, calenders or the like will be displayed. -|The central portion of this surface is intended to be used for the display of advertising or the like. The package is particularly adapted for use in retaining sheets of paper such as paper towels, sheets of oil paper, or the like, in a position for their ready use. The package is formed from a single piece of material which lends to economy in its manufacture, and easy and simple in its assembly. Because of the nature of the construction the exposed face of the central panel '7 serves as an admirable means for advertising purposes and the package itself may be so ornamented as to be quite attractive in its appearance.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of my invention, I do not Wish to limit myself to the precise details of structure shown but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as may come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent l. In a paper package of the class described: a

4. In a paper package of the class described: a central panel; an end ap projecting outwardly from one end of said panel and foldable over onto said panel; a plurality of sheets of paper secured along one of their edges to said flap and adapted upon folding of said Iiap over onto said panel for lying in engagement with said panel; and an eyelet forming gromet seeming said flap in overlapped relation on said panel; a side ap on each side of said panel, said side flaps being foldable inwardly onto said panel and overlapping each other at their inner edges; and means for securing said side aps in overlapped relation for covering the sheets of paper, said end iiap folding over onto said central panel on a line positioned outwardly from the end edges of said side naps.
5. In a paper package of the class described: a central panel; an end flap projecting outwardly from one end of said panel and foldable thereupon; a plurality of sheets of paper secured adjacent one of their end edges to said end flap, said panel having an opening adjacent its upper end adapted for registering with an opening in said end flap upon folding of said end flap upon said panel; and a side flap at each side of said panel foldable thereupon for providing a cover for said sheets of paper, one of said side flaps extending across the location of said openings and being cut away at its upper edge for clearing said openings.
