Description

Jan. 30, D T TRE$TRA|L WRAPPER FOR NECKTIES Filed April 10, 1953 DONALD T. TREST RAiL.
INVENTOR.
BYjWM A TTORNEYS.
Patented Jan. 3%, 1934 5 Claims.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in necktie dispensing packets or wrappers, more particularly for pointed four-in-hand neckties and has for its objects to provide a packet wherein the tie may snugly fit, which will prevent the curling of the points and the wrinkling of the tie as in the present manner of wrapping said ties, and will reduce the number of folds necessarily made in wrapping the tie for the customer. When made of a transparent material such as paper or cellophane, in addition to the above named features, the tie may be displayed therein to a prospective customer and the tie rendered less subjected to handling and soiling. The cheapness of manufacture and the ease of use are also other features of the invention.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, my invention consists in the novel features hereinafter set forth in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the drawing in which numerals of like character designate similar parts throughout the several views, and in which the preferred form of my wrapper is shown:
Fig. 1 is a top plan view of a flat sheet of transparent material such as paper or cellophane, cut to form an envelope when folded on the dotted lines, and in which envelope one end thereof is pointed to conform to the pointed end or ends of a four-in-hand necktie.
Fig. 2 is a top plan View of the flap side or rear face of the same after it has been folded as above said.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the front face of the same, showing a pointed end four-in-hand necktie therein through the front sheet of the envelope.
1 represents the front sheet of the packet or envelope, 2 and 3 pointed flaps thereof adapted to be folded upon each other to form a pointed end on the envelope. 4 represents a flap on the shorter end of the envelope, and 5 a longitudinal flap which forms the main portion of the rear surface of the envelope and which has thereon a pointed end 6 adapted to be tucked between front sheet 1 and pointed flaps 2 and 3 when the envelope has been folded. 7 represents another longitudinal flap on the envelope and constitutes the chief flap opening thereinto. The dotted lines in Fig. 1 indicate the foldings of the sheet to form the wrapper. A folded pointed four-inhand tie is indicated in Fig. 3 as snugly fitted within said envelope and showing through the transparent front sheet thereof. Flaps 2 and 3 may be pasted or otherwise fastened together or may be left as independent flaps.
After the sheet has been folded to form the packet as in Figs. 2 and 3, it is ready for use, and the necktie folded to the required length, first by doubling it upon itself and placing both ends together and then by again folding to make it of suitable size to slip into the envelope. The tie is then slipped into the envelope either through flap '7 if flaps 2 and 3 are pasted together or if the longitudinal flaps are closed then through flaps 2 and 3 which may be left detached from each other. In either case, the pointed tie ends fit into the pointed end of the packet. The tie is delivered to the customer in the packet. If a transparent packet is used, the tie may be marketed by the manufacturer in such a packet and the retail merchant may display the same to his trade in the original packet and deliver the tie to the customer in the same wrapper.
It is preferred to make the packet with flaps 2 and 3 pasted together and with the pointed end 6 of flap 5 free so that it may be slipped between sheet 1 and flaps 2 and 3 and free to slide between said sheet and flaps so as to make it easier to place the tie in the wrapper through flap opening 7, although the packet may be made with flaps 2 and 3 independent of each other, and particularly when they are to be used as the flap openings into the envelope with flaps 6 and '7 pasted together. The tie is, of course, inserted either through flap opening '7, which is preferred, or openings through flaps 2 and 3, the opening used depending upon the construction of the wrapper as above said. When opening through flap '7 is used flap 6 gives way as its end 5 is free to slide as above explained, and this makes it easier to insert the tie into the packet.
Having thus fully disclosed my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A wrapper for a pointed four-in-hand necktie comprising an envelope longer than it is wide, pointed at one end in manner adapted to receive the pointed end of said necktie, and having its sides tapering towards the other end, and a flap opening along one of said sides.
2. A wrapper for a pointed four-in-hand necktie comprising an envelope longer than it is wide and pointed at one end in manner adapted to receive the pointed end of said necktie and with said pointed end formed by loose flaps of said envelope material, and with said envelope having its sides tapering towards the other end, and a flap opening along one of said sides.
3. A wrapper for a pointed four-in-hand necktie comprising an envelope longer than it is wide and pointed at one end in manner adapted to receive the pointed end of said necktie and with said pointed end formed by flaps fastened together, and with said envelope having its sides tapering inwardly towards the other end, and a flap opening along each of said sides.
4. A wrapper for a necktie comprising an envelope longer than it is wide and tapered longitudinally with one end shorter than the other end, flap openings at both sides, and a flap opening at one end.
flaps is elongated at the pointed end of the envelope, and with said elongated portion of said last named flap adapted to be slidably inserted into the pointed end of said envelope.
