(01. 103-126) f The housings or casings of gear-wheel pumps for artificial silk spinning machines have hitherto been adapted as regards their shape to the various methods of securing them in place. 'I'hepump 5 housings thereforehad to be manufactured in various shapes which gave rise to the disadvantage that the parts of the pumps could not be produced by mass-production methods.
The object of the invention is a gear-wheel pump, for artificial silk spinning machines, which consists of the pump proper with its housing and of a special part or member adapted for use in the securing operations. According to the invention therefore the essen l5 tial parts of the gear wheel pump are detachably connected to a special securing or fixing member. By means of this construction a standard design may be employed for the essential parts of the pump, which may be suitably screwed to the fixing member best adapted to the requirements of the case under consideration. A further advantage resides in the fact that the individual components of the pump proper can be manufactured in a simple and accurate manner, so that high grade material which is difllcultly workable, such as acidand rust-proof steel, may be employed withadvantage.
The accompanying drawing illustrates two constructions according to the invention by way of example.

In accordance with my invention, the pump housing a, constructed as described, is made of an acid proof material, such as acid proof steel, of which the pump gears enclosed therein are also made, so that these important and more expensive parts of the pump are designedto resist corrosion and to be thereby maintained in prime 5 working condition for a long' period, thus preventing imperfect action of the pump gears and leakage and ensming at all times the supply of a correct amount of solution to the spinnere'ttes. The body or stock portion 1; of the pump, however. which contains the supply and discharge ducts 00 c, d, is made of cast iron or some other suitable lower grade material which can be readily machined or otherwise worked. This body or stock portion is also provided with an integral attaching portion or brackete, so that those portions of the pump which are of less importance, and which will stand corrosion without affecting the working action of the pump, are made of a material of a less expensive character and more easily worked, such as cast iron, whereby the cost of manufacture and maintenance of the pump may be kept within reasonable and safe limits. My invention thus provides a pump structure of the character and for the purpose described which is more durable and much more reliable and uni- 76 formly precise in its delivery actions than pumps of ordinary construction, and which, while capable of being supplied at a comparatively low cost, will in the end involve less cost than ordinary pumps because of its greater durability.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is:--
ing three plates of equal length and width, each of said plates being provided with alined' bolt holes, one of said plates being adapted to rest against said plane face and having a shaft hole and inlet and outlet ports extending therethrough and registering with the corresponding openings in the main member, the second of said plates. having an opening therein to receive a pump impeller and having the ports and shaft hole of the first plate opening thereinto, the third of said plates covering-the second and being imperforate except for the bolt holes, a shaft extending through the bore of the main member and shaft hole of the first plate and provided with an impeller located in the opening of the second plate, and bolts passing through the bolt holes and screwed into the main member.
2. The combination with a main supporting member having a shaft bearing, and having a outlet ports extending therethrough and regis-' tering with the corresponding openings in the main member, the second of said plates having an opening therein to receive a pump impeller and having the ports and shaft hole of the first plate opening thereinto, the third of said plates covering the second and being imperforate except for the bolt holes, a shaft extending through the bore of the main member and shaft hole of the first plate and provided with an impeller located in the opening of the second plate, and bolts passing through the bolt holes and screwed into the main member, all of said plates having their front and back faces plane surfaces and being of uniform thickness.
