.9 Claims. (01. 272-43) This invention relates to amusement devices used in fairs, carnivals, etc.,' and more particularly to that type ofamusement devices which a number of carriages are rotated around acome mon center to provide amusement for passengers in the carriages. 1
A particular object of this invention is to provide a novel mechanism by which a number of carriages are simultaneously subjected to a novel series of motions while said carriages are traveling around a common center. 1
A further object of this invention is to provide a mechanism of this character which shall besimple but substantial in design and safe in operation.
Other objects of the invention are shown in the specification and drawings in which Fig. 1 is a plan view of my amusementdevice.

In an amusement device the sub-structure including a stationary platform having its central portion cut away, a central rotary turntable lo cated in said cutaway portion, a bearing rim on "said turntable located on the circumference thereof, said stationary platform having centering means for said turntable engaging the bearingrim thereof, said turntablebaving a large central aperture, a vertical shaft located in spaced relation eccentrically of said aperture and turntable, said shaft having a straight uninterruptedvertical axis, a bearing mounted on said shaft above said turntable, rods articulately connected to said shaft bearing and slidably table, said platform having" a cutaway portion centrally located, the turntable being located said cutaway portion, cooperating centering means on said members to center said turntable within said platform, saidv turntable member having a large central opening, a vertical shaft located eccentrically insaid opening and to said turntable, said shaft having a straight uninter- 1 rupted vertical axis, a bearing located on said shaft above said turntable, rodsarticulately connected to said bearing-and slidably supported in swivels secured to the edge portion of the turntable and extending upwardly-therefrom, vehicles pivotally attached to the free ends of said rods and traversing the undulations of said stationary platform, means on said swivels to prevent displacement of said rods from said swivels, as the vehicles ride over the. crests of said undulations on said stationary platform, means to drive said turntable, said rods, vehicles and swivels, whereby the shaft -bearingiis propelled about the shaft by said rods. In an amusement device, a stationary platform having a circular hole centrally located therein, a metal covering on the surface of said platform, a turntable located in the circular hole of said platform cooperating means on said platform and turntable to maintain the turntable accurately centered in said platform, said turntable having a large centrally located hole therein, a base shaft located eccentrically'cf said last named hole-and extending vertically there- 'through, said shaft having a straight uninterrupted axis wherebyv said shaftimay be extended upwardly to form a support, said shaft carrying 'a rotatably mounted hub, carriage rods radially actuate said turntable and thereby propel said rods, carriages and hub about said base shaft and thereby to impart to said carriages a variety of amusing motions.

In an amusement device, a stationary platform having a central opening therein, a turntable located within said opening and centered therein by-oooperating centering means said turntable having a large central hole, a base shaft passing eccentrically through said hole, and spaced therefrom said shaft having a straight uninterrupted axis whereby it may be extended vertically to form a support, a hub rotatably mounted on said shaft, carriage rods radially disposed from and articulately connected to said hub, swivelled supports pivotally mounted on the edge portion of said turntable, said rods passing slidably and individually through their respective support, an.

In an amusement device, the substructure comprising a guide adapted to be swivelly mounted on the edge portion of a rotary turntable, said guide having horizontal upper and lower plates connected by side plates, antifriction means supported horizontally by said side plates, a tie rod journal extending upwardly from the upper plate and a swivel bolt extending downwardly from said lower plate substantially as described.
6. In an amusement device, the substructure including a rotary turntable having guides swivelly mounted on the edge portion thereof,
said guides having horizontal upper and lowerplates connected by side plates, antifriction means supported by the side plates, a journal on the upper plate and extending upwardly therefrom,
