The gauntlet is removably secured to the wrist portion of the glove by iirst drawing the wrist portion over the smaller end of the gauntlet and inserting the loops 9 in the eyelets 6, passing a lacing string 19 through the loops so as to encircle the Wrist portion of the glove, and connecting the ends of the lacing string together by means of a suitable bow-knot 20.

When desired, the two parts may be secured together by the type of device commonly known as a snap fastener comprising a base plate 21 sewed to the inner side of the wrist portion of the glove and having each a socket 22, the outer side of the gauntlet having a corresponding device comprising a base plate 23 sewed to the material of v the gauntlet and having a stud 24 thereon to be received in the socket.

In practical use the gloves are used until they become soiled or greasy and are readily washed or laundered following the removal of the gauntlet therefrom, the gauntlet, being readily cleaned by hand so as to remove greasy matter or other befouling substances that may accumulate thereon incidental to the utilization of the article. Thus the gauntlet may be readily kept in good condition and outlast many of the fabric gloves which being inexpensive and liable to suffer from long use and wear, may be repeatedly replaced by new gloves or by spare laundered gloves.

What is claimed is:

In a gauntlet glove, the combination with a glove part having eyelets in a portion thereof, of a cuff part composed of superimposed layers of material having smooth faces impervious to moisture, said layers being stitched together, and loops inserted through the outer one of said layers and having each a base integral with each of opposite ends thereof secured between said layers, said cuff part being insertable partially into said glove part to insert said loops into said eyelets for receiving a lacing string.
