1 Claim. (Cl. 139-150) This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in looms.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a protector which involves novel guide means for the rocker of the usual picker stick.
Another important object of the invention is to provide improvements of the above character which in use will eliminate twisting of the picker stick rocker and avoid set screws on the rocker shaft.
During the following specification other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader.
In the drawings:-
Figure 1 represents a fragmentary side elevational view partly in section.
Fig. 2 represents a vertical sectional view taken substantially on line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 represents a sectional view taken substantially on line 3--3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 represents a fragmentary elevational view of the picker stick looking at the clamp plate thereon.
Fig. 5 represents an inside elevational view of the clamp plate shown in Fig. 4.
Fig. 6 represents a sectional view taken substantially on line 6-6 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen in Fig. 1, that numeral 5 represents the usual lay rock shaft having the journal 6 on the frame 7.
On the drive end of this shaft 5 is a collar 8 which is secured to the shaft by set screws 9--9. This collar has an upstanding boss 10 and an upstanding laterally disposed ear 11 in substantial spaced relation as shown in Fig. 2.
Numeral 12 generally refers to the stand which is provided with a depending sleeve 13 thru which the aforementioned shaft 5 extends. The sleeve 13 is not secured in any way to the shaft 5. This stand 12 has a pair of fins 14-15 projecting from opposite side portions thereof, the fin 15 resting upon the boss 10, while the fin 14 rests upon the upper end of the set screw 16. This screw clamp plate to the picker stick. This clamp plate 19 has a pair of side members 23-23 which engage the sides of the picker stick 20.
Numeral 24 represents a screw disposed through the clamp plate 19 and into the stick 20 passing through an opening in the upper end of the strap 25 which extends downwardly between the pick 20 and clamp plate 19 to pass through and be secured to the usual spring device 26 supported on the brackets 27. Numeral 28 represents depending pins which engage through openings in the strap 25 to prevent displacement or self adjusting of the strap with respect to the pick 20.
Numeral 29 represents the rocker of the pick 20, each end of which is provided with a fork 30. The tines of each fork 30 engage the opposite sides of an upstanding protuberance 31 on the corresponding end of the stand 12 and obviously, these protuberances 31 serve to guide the. rod to prevent twisting or distorted motion of the picker stick.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without de parting from the spirit and scope of the inven tion as claimed hereinafter.
Having thus described my invention, what 1 claim as new is:-
In combination, alay rock shaft, a picker stick,
a stand having an opening therein through which the picker stick depends, a fulcrum on the stand against which the pick bears, a spring device on the stand, a strap extending from the spring device to the picker stick, a collar secured to the lay shaft, a sleeve on the shaft and from which extends the stand, said collar being provided with an upstanding boss against which the stand rests, and an upwardly feeding screw on the collar for bearing against the stand to urge the same snugly against the said boss.
PIERRE LAMBERT.
when fed upwardly maintains the stand rigidly fixed to the shaft 5.
The stand 12 has a centrally located opening 17 therein, one end wall of which has an opening therein for receiving the tapered fulcrum switch 18 against which the clamp plate 19 of the picker, arm 20 bears. This plate 19 is provided with an outstanding boss 21 on each side of the plate 19 and as is clearly shown in Fig. 1, a bolt 22 passes through the plate 19 and lower portion of the picker stick 20 for securing the
