Description

Oct. 17, 1933. w sElDlNGER 1,930,776
COMBINATION OF A BROADCASTING RECEIVER SET AND A GRAMOPHONE Filed Feb. 27, 1932 W: Her vjel'all nger lAWE/VTOA ATTOENEYS Patented Oct. 17, 1933 UNITED STATES CODIBENATIQN OF RECEIVER SET AND A BROADCASTING A GRAMOPHON E Walter Seidinger, Berlin, Germany Application February 27 1932, Serial No. 595,480,
and in Germany March 7, 1931 3 Claims.
I am aware that it is well known tocombine a broadcasting or radio receiver set and a grainophone. Such combined apparatus are very bulky, inasmuch as it is usual to arrange the plate 5 carrier of gramophones used together with a radio receiver set in a horizontal plane, with the result, that according to the great size of the gramophone plate, a large depth of the housing is needed. It is very difiicult to mount a loudspeaker within the usual gramophone and such a mounting would be detrimental in acoustical respect.
Furthermore I am aware, that in a well known combined apparatus of the above mentioned type, that is to say in an apparatus having the shape of a loudspeaker, the sound plate carrier is swung out laterally and finds place upon its housing in a horizontal plane, with the result, that the housing must have a depth corresponding to the diameter of the sound plate, additional area being requested for the carrier being swung out. I
Furthermore I am aware that it is well known to arrange the sound plate carrier of a gramophone in a vertical plane. I mount such a vertically arranged sound plate carrier at the outside of a usual loudspeaker housing having a vertical wall. For such mounting of the sound plate I prefer the backside of the loudspeaker housing with the result, that the operation of the loudspeaker is not prejudiced by the gramophone parts mounted in the above'mentioned position. The room depth of such a combined apparatus is substantially the same as the depth of the usual loudspeaker housing. It is to be remarked that, in a combined apparatus according to my invention, the plate carrier and the sound box are well accessible.
In the drawing in which an embodiment of my invention is shown-- Figure 1 is a front view of the loudspeaker housing combined with a grammophone according to my invention, and
Figure 2 is a rearward view of the same combined apparatus, showing the plate carrier and the sound arm arranged in vertical planes.
Referring now to the drawing, within, at one lateral side and at the backside of a loudspeaker housing a of the usual type, a broadcasting or radio receiver set 1) are mounted. According to my invention the plate carrier d, wherein a driving 'electromotor may, be mounted in a well known manner, as well as the sound arm f provided in well known manner with a balance weight, is mounted at the outside of the backward wall e of the'loudspeaker.
What I claim, is: I
1. In combination, a broadcasting or radio receiver set comprising a loudspeaker, a housing of said loudspeaker, and a gramophone apparatus, the soundplate carrier of said gramophone apparatus being arranged in a vertical plane at the outside of the vertical backward wall of the loudspeaker housing.
2. In combination, a broadcasting or'radio receiver set comprising a loudspeaker, a housing of said loudspeaker, and a gramophone apparatus, the sound arm of said gramophone apparatus being arranged in a vertical plane at the outside of the vertical backward wall of the loudspeaker housing.
3. In combination, a broadcasting or radio re ceiver set comprising a loudspeaker, a housing of said loudspeaker, and a gramophone apparatus, the sound plate carrier and the sound arm of said gramophone apparatus being arranged in a vertical plane at the outside of the vertical backward Wall of the loudspeaker housing.
