Serial No. 493,162 l' l '1 Claim; (c1; 292-93) The object of this invention is the provision of means for unlatching a, gate and to cause the same to swing outwardly to fully open position by the contact of the front bumpers of an auto mobile with a bumper element which is associated with the latch mechanism, so that the vehicle can travel through the gateway without necessitating the occupant alightingvtherefrom and further, wherein the gate will gravitate to closed and latched position.
To the attainment of the foregoing the invention consists in the improvement hereinafter described and definitely claimedQ In the drawings:

While in the drawings I have illustrated my (improvement in connection with a gate it is to be understood that the same is equally adaptable to doors, especially to garage doors.
VReferring to the drawings in detail, the numeral 1 indicates a gate of any ordinary con- .struction, 2 a hinge post therefor and 3 the latch 7 post.
One end of the gate, at the upper edge thereof next to the hinge post 2 is provided with the socket extension 4 in which is loosely received the offset end 5 of a bolt member 6. The bolt member is passed through the post 2 and has screwed thereon nuts '7 which contact with the opposite faces of the said post 2. By this arrangement the bolt member may be longitudilnally adjusted, so that the gate canbe properly adjusted with respect to the roadway;
On its lower corner, the gate at the end thereof opposite the post 2, has fixed thereon a bracket that includes a laterally extending plate 8 .whose ends are cupped, as at 9, the said cups receiving therein rounded heads 10 on a plate 11 which is fixed to the post 2. In lieu of the members 8 and 11 a double hinge may connect the lower corner of the gate with the post 2. I
