Application September 25, 1931 Serial No. 565,168
3 Claims. (01. 51-201) This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in stropping devices for razors and like cutlery, and the principal object of the invention is to provide a strop holder whereby the strop can be handled in an easy and con- I venient manner.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a strop holder wherein means is provided for varying the tension of the strop to accommodate individual requirements.
These and various other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings:-
Figure 1 represents a side elevational view of the device.
Fig. 2 represents a top plan view of the device.
Fig. 3 represents a longitudinal sectional view 20 through the device.
Fig. 4 represents a vertical sectional view through the device.
Fig. 5 represents an end elevational view of the device. 7
Fig. 6 represents a perspective view of the binder at one end of the strop.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 represents the wall of a room to which the plate 6 is attached. Numeral '7 represents a horizontally disposed U-shaped bracket having openings in the leg portions thereof, through which the upstanding end portion 8 of the horizontally disposed rod 9 is disposed. Numeral 10 represents an eye pin disposed through an opening in the upstanding portion 8 of the rod 9 so as to prevent displacement of this portion 8 from the bracket 7. I
Numeral 11 represents a platform, through the bottom of which is hingedly secured to the blocks 12 and 13, each having an opening 14 therein for slidably receiving the rods 9.
A plate 15 at the lower end of the rod 9 has an opening therein for receiving the adjacent theaded end portion 16 of the rod 9 and a wind nut 17 is provided on this portion 16 of the rod 9 for urging the plate 15 inwardly of the rod.
Numerals 18 and 19 represent the end binders for the strop 20, each being of U-shape and provided at its bight portion witha link 21 between which and the eye pin 10, the coiled spring 22 is connected. A bolt 23 andwing nut 24 connect each binder 18 and 19 to its corresponding end of the strop 20. With the binders resting upon the end portions of the platform 11, the strop 20 is raised a slight distance from the platform, and the platform will serve to limit flexing of the strop when being used.
A handle 25 is provided with a threaded socket 5 for receiving the threaded shank 26 on the bight portion, of the binder 19, and obviously by feeding the knob 25 inwardly on theshank 26, the binder 19 can be drawn toward the plate 15 for, obviously drawing taut the strop 20.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. A strop of the character described comprising a wall anchor, a strop, a handle at one end of the strop, a spring interposed between the opposite end of the strop and the said anchor, a i platform supported by the handle, and an arm extending from the anchor horizontally, an upon which the platform is slidable.
2. A strop of the character described comprising a wall anchor, a strop, a handle at one end of the strop, a spring interposed between the opposite end of the strop and the said anchor, a platform supported by the handle, an arm eX- tending from the anchor horizontally upon which the platform is slidable, and means whereby the said arm is swingably connected'to the said anchor.
31A strop of the character described comprising an anchor, an elongated arm provided with an upstanding end portion journalled thru the anchor whereby the arm is made swingable, a platform, a pair of depending hinged blocks on the platform having openings therein for receiving the arm, a strop, a handle at one end of the strop, and a spring interposed between the opposite end of the strop and the anchor, said strop being disposed over the said platform. 1
