Description

J'. R. PALMENBERG.
I SHOW-STAND. I No. 192,184, I Patented June19,187'7.
I m'fiimses lnv'eJz for.
UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
JOSEPH R. PALMENBERG, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN SHOW-STANDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,184, dated June 19, 1877 application filed April 19, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH R. PALMEN BERG, of New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Store-Fixtures, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a side view, and Fig. 2 a front view.
The object of my invention is to furnish a device to expose articles of dress, ornaments, or jewelry in a store close to and above the store-counter, and which may be easily regulated and changed into any desired position.
In the drawing, A represents the top'of the shelf or the wall of the store, to which a bracket, B, of any desired shape or form is permanently attached. Into the projecting end of this bracket a rod, 0, is fitted, capable of being moved inward and outward, and fixed in any desired position through the set-screw n. Through the head of this rod 0 a bar, D, is arranged to slide upward and downward, and held fast in any desired position by means of a set-screw,.a. Upon this bar D one or more hinged brackets, E, are arranged, capable of sliding upward and downward, and secured in any desired position by means of set-screws m. These brackets have screws h bearing against the sliding hub, whereby the inclination of the hinged arm can be regulated, and are provided with suitable recesses c 2;, into which cross-bars w w are placed, to which the articles exposed to view are attached by hooks or otherwise. These frames are attached at suitable distances apart to the top of the shelves or the side of the building and the position of the bars to w, and, consequently, of the articles to be exhibited, can readily be fixed in convenient view of the purchaser and at the same time handy to the salesman or saleswoman without interfering with his or her free movement between the shelf, or wall, and shop-counter.
Besides the bars w, supported by the frames, suitable hooks, or their equivalent, may be attached to the hinged arms E to support smaller articles.
I do not specially claim the hinged arms E, which have been already patented by me in the Patent 'No. 108,046 of October 4, 1870, with other combinations, as a window'stand, and are more fully described therein.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the, bracket B, rod 0, bar D, hinged brackets E, and cross-bars w w, arranged to operate substantially as and for the purpose herein described.
JOSEPH R. PALMENBERG.
