Description

'Q.M.'YOUNGS.
' TDE- WEIGHT ATTACHMENT.
No. 192,105, Patented June 19, 1 87 7.
UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
QUINTEN M. YOUNG-S, OF UTIGA, NEW YORK.
IMPRQYEMENTIIN TOE-WEIGHT ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,105, dated June 19, 1877; "application filed April 13, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, QUINTEN M. YOUNGs, of Utica, in the county of Oneida and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Horse Toe-Weight; and I do hereby declare that the following isa clear, full, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in horse toe-weights, and it consists in having the spur so arranged as to he adjustable to the varying shapes of horses feet'. Heretot'ore the spurs have been made faster solid with the weight. By having the spur solid with the weight, the same weight that would fit the toe would not fit the side or any other part of the foot, owing to the toe forming with the bottom a different angle from that of the side of the foot. I
My invention in toe-weights overcomes this difficulty. Instead of making the spur fast or solid with the weight I have hinged it to the weight, making it adjustable so as to fita horses foot of any shape.
Figure 1 is a sectional view of the weight and spur.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the weight. Fig. 3 is a view of the spur separate. Fig. 4 is a view of the hoof with weight attached.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the weight and B the horses foot to which it is fastened. O is a slot, through which the strap D passes, ,Which fastens the weight to the foot. E is the spur, and F is the pin which connects the spur with the weight, forming a hinge.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to seenre by Letters Patent, is-
A horse toe-weight having a hinged-spur, so ,as to be adjustable to the varying shapes of horses feet, substantially as specified.
QUINTEN YOUNGS.
