Referringto Figures "l to5 ofthe draw-asc ings, the letter A refers tofthe upright or backfboard of the rack which isinade upof A "aniiddle section 1 and 'end 'seetions.2, the end', sectionsbeing hinged tot the middle 'section by 'a fabric strip, which is adhered to the sections, thus .permitting the ends'e'c- 'tionsto be folded over the -Iniddle section for convenience in packing or shipping'.V The' sections arepre'ferably ornament'ed .to lp'resent-an attractive appearance', and at aysuitable distance frein theirlower edges theyare `.narrow slots '4,tl1e upper 'halves of which yare vertically disposed, *and theirlower `upper 'end fof a rack tbottornwhich 'is hV- wsh'aped-in cross-section, 'the rackbottom 5` -O the endsect'ions being of less width ukand 5100 depth than the middle rack bottom 6. Each rack bottom is in the form of a blank which is scored centrally of its width, as shown byv the dotted line 7, Fig. 4, to facilitate the bending of the blank into V-shape, and the upper end of the bottom is formed with a hook8 on each corner, the hooks being made as follows: The blank is folded along the scored linev 7 and at a distance from the top end, a portion of the blank is severed on a line 9 which extends from the folded edge to a point 10 near the adjacent corner, and then parallel with the adjacent edge for a short distance, then out through the edge on a line parallel with the line 9. The hooks are formed by slitting the blank from the point 10 to the point 11, as shown in Fig. 4. The opposite end of the folded blank is cut off on a line 12 of such an angle, that when the upper end of the -V-shaped bottom is secured to the back board, its lower end edges will rest squarely upon the base or counter, the angle at which the rack bottom inclines with respect to the upright back defining the angles at which the upper eiid'of` the blank is cut off, so that the said end Will rest squarely against the upright. The bottoms are secured to the upright by passing the hooks 8 through the vertical `portions of the slots 4, and then slipping the necks of the hooks into the inclined portions of the slots. The side edges of the rack bottom are provided With a number of slits 13, corresponding to the required number vof pockets, and these slits are on an angle parallel with the upper end of the folded blank,so that when the rack bottom is secured to the upright, the slits 13 will be vertically disposed as shown in Fig. 3. In each pair of oppositely positioned slits 13 is placed a partition 14, in the form of a strip having short legs 15 at its ends, the lower edge of the strip between the legs being V-shaped. When the partitions are placed in the slits 13, the legs extend down below the bottoms of the slits, and the inner edges of the legs prevent the bottom members from spreading and the space between each two partitions forms a i pocket' for the reception of boxes or packages, as shown by Fig. 3, and while I have shown six pockets in the drawings, it Will be understood thata greater or less number of pockets may be employed, and the inclina- Ation of the rack bottom may also be at any desired angle with respect to the back board. In Fig. 1, I have shown three rack members,
Y the middle member being wider and deeper than the end members to accommodate the larger sized boxes or packages, and it will be understood that the V-shaped rack bottom is especially designed for either round or heart-shaped boxes, and while I have shown vthree groups of racks, l .may also arrange them in single or double groups, as may be desired.
In Figures 6 to 10, I have shown a display rack designed for rectangular boxes, or packages, .and in this arrangement I employ an upright back board B comprising a centra1 section 16 and end section 17 which are hinged to the central section in the saine manner as described in connection with Fig. 1, or, yI may employ either a single section as shown in Fig. 7, or two sections as may be desired.
The sections are provided at a suitable distance from their lower edges, with vertical slots 18 to receive the hooked ends 19 of the rack bottoms 20. AThe rack bottoms 2O are in the forni of blanks which are scored in lines near and parallel with their side edges, as shown by the dotted lines 21 and the parts are bent up at right anglesto form end strips 22. The hooked ends 19, extend a short distance beyond the upper ends of the end strips 22 and the hooks are formed by score lines -21 to within a short distance of the side edges of the endstiips and 'at such an angle that when the hooks are passed through the slots 18, andthe rack bottom is inclined-at the desired angle to the back' lsquarely against the back board as clearly shown in Fig. 8. The edges of the end strips are provided 'with spaced slits 24- whicli are set at the same angle as the hook slits 23, and are adapted to receive the par- 1tition strips Q5, which are provided withV slits 26, which are cut into their lower edges and near their ends and interlock with oppositely disposed slits 24, in the end strips to provide a series of pockets, as clearlyr shown in the drawings.
The slits 13 in the V-shaped rack bottom, and the slits 241 in the channel shaped rack bottom may be increased in number and placed closer together so as to provide a seyclaim as new and desire t0. secure by Letters Patent, is
