This invention relates in general to spools, and more part-mularlyt-o that type of spool which comprises a cylindrical tube or core .having'disks oiflanges secured to its ends between which upon the core lswound mate- "rial to be spooled.
One object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved device for securing the disk or flai'ige upon the end of the tube or core, whereby the disk may be easily and securely fastened to the core and firmly held against both lateral movement and rotation on the core.

This fastening device comprises a plate 5 formed ofsuitable material, preferably sheet metal, which has a plurality of arms 6 'pro-90 jecting from the outer periphery and at one side thereof at an angle to the plane of the plate. A modification of the invention is shown. in Figures 7 and 8. The construction of this modifiedform is in general the same as that shown in Figures 1 to 6, inclusive, the difii'erence being that the spring tongues 12 are omitted, and the sides of the arms 15 are. formed with inturned flanges 16 which radually increase in width from the plate toward the free ends of the arms. Adjacent the free ends oi. the arms the flanges 16 are formedwith seats 17 to receive themember 8. While I have shown my invention as embodied in several different forms and in dif ferent details of eonstructiomiit should be understood that this is primarily for thepurpose of illustrating the principles of the 1nvention, and that the details of construction may befurther modified or changed by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.

comprising a plate having a plurality of integral arms projecting from its outer periphery at one side of the plate and atan angle to the plane thereof, said arms being spaced substantially equidistantly from the axis of the plate and having projections on their outer sides, a member between and in engagement With said arms and slldable longitudinally thereoffrom said plate to press said arms outwardly, and seats at the ends of said arms to receive said member and limit sliding movement thereof 111 all directions.

A device forsecuring an end flange on I a tube, comprising a plate having a pl11- rality of integral arms projecting atone side of the plate and at an angle to. the, plane nally thereof from said plate to press said arms outwardly, and meanson said arms to limit sliding movement of said member toward the freeends of said arms.
