This invention relates to improvements in folding or collapsible tables, and it is the principal object-0f my invention to provide a table that may convenientlybe folded into a comparativelysmall and compact parcel whereby the table plate forms parts of a case in whichthe table can be conveniently carried and in which ample space is left for allowing the storage of other articlessuch as for 1Q instance foldable chairs. r Another object of my invention :is theprovision of a collapsible table, all elements of which are firmly connected so as to form when set up as such a table of great strength securely supported at a convenient distance from the ground, yet allowing a ready collapsing.

A further object of my invention is the provision of a collapsible table readily convertible into a hat-box like structure conveniently to carry without by its outer appearance betraying its use as a table.

Astill further object of my invention is the provision of a collapsible table of com- 25 paratively simple, and inexpensive structure,

yet durable and efficient in operation.

These and other objects and advantages of my invention will become more fully known 0 as the description thereof proceeds and will i then be specifically defined in the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a folding or collapsible table constructed according to my invention, set up as table.

Y. The legs 38 having been previously folded against stem 34 are prevented from spreading by a bracket 46 and are in their folded position together with stem 34 drawn inward laterally into the box while the pins 24 slide inwardly in slots 23 of bars 21, 22, so as to form a compact parcel 47.

It will be understood that I have disclosed one form of my invention as an example only, and that certain changes may be resorted to without departing from the'spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters said slots and at their inner ends pivotally secured to the flanges of said plate, a pair or other side bars, bolts on said last named side bars removably engaging the holes in said L-bars,and a spring controlled transverse bar having its ends loosely mounted in said last named side bars to allow a bringing together of said bars against the action of their spring for disengaging the bolts from said sidebars, the inner ends of said side bars also pivotally connected to the flanges of said plate.

2. In a collapsible table, a flanged plate, two pairs of parallel bars having their inner ends connected to the flanges of said plate, outwardly curved outer ends on said bars, L-irons having longitudinally extending slots near one of their ends, and a plurality olt'perforations at their other ends, prongs at the outer ends of said pairs of parallel bars adapted to engage, said perforations in the ends of said L-irons, a transverse rod guided with its ends'inthe longitudinal slots of said L-irons, a bar loosely guided with its ends in one pair of said parallel: bars, and a spring wound about said loosely guided bar between said parallel bars to press the prongs of said last-named bars into the perforations of said L-irons, means for supporting said plate, and two outer table Yplate members hingedly connected to an intermediate inner plate, and collapsible means to support said two outer plate members in theirextended position.
