Description

. S. R.SCOTTRON. ADJUSTABLE MIRRORS FOR DRESSING-GASES.
Patented June 5,1877.
No.191,7ZO."-
ATTORNEYS N. FEVERS, FHOTG-UTKOGRAPHFR, WASNINGi'ON, D C
NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
SAMUEL R. SOOTTRON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN ADJUSTABLE MIRRORS FOR DRESSING-CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. [9 [,720, dated J one 5, 1877 application filed November 16, 1876.
The nature of my invention consists in a bureau or dressing-case having hinged doors, in which are arranged mirrors hung upon pivots opposite each other, to be adjusted at any angle desired, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art U to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a perspective view of a dressing-case embodying my invention.
A represents a dressing-case or bureau of any suitable construction, and provided with the usual hinged doors B B. These doors, in my invention, are simply frames, in each of which is hung a mirror, 0, upon central pivots, so that it can be adjusted at any angle desired, and either the glass or the back can be turned to the outside.
These mirrors being thus adjustable, and by means of the motions obtainable by swinging them on their hinges horizontally, and on a pivot or axis vertically, a person may obtain any view of himself by reason of the angles at which each mirror may be placed with reference to the other.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A bureau or dressing-case, A, having two hinged skeleton frames, B B, into each of which is pivoted a mirror, 0, capable of being placed at any angle, and capable of being revolved on the pivots, so that the mirrors can face on either side of the frame, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 26th day of October, 1876.
SAMUEL R. SOUTTRON.
