Fig, if a small article is to be gripped by the formed ends of the arms 13 and 16, the other pair of arms is brought closer together by pressure, the article to be handled, for example, a small screw, is placed between the ends of the arms 13 and 16 and the hand pressm'e on the arms`12 and 14 is released. Thespring assembly will then'hold the arms 13 and 16 together, thus securely holding the screw o r other small part between the spring pressed' arms. r
The tool is of vconsiderable utility in handlingfrelatiyely small springs for example having loops on their ends which are'for eXample to be engaged over a pair of pins. Such al spring would be similar to the springs 26 and Q7 used herein as a part of the tool. In this case with the tool adjusted as shown in Fig. 2 the arms 12 and 14 would-be pressed together and the/ends of the arms 12 and 14 inserted through the loops at the end Vof the spring. Pressure on the arms by the iingers would then be released, and a small spring would be expanded and helden the ends of the arms. When the spring was to kbe placed overv a pair of pins then, for ex- "a'mple,1t would only be necessary to hold the arms 12 and 14 in alignment with the pins or posts for the small spring and then force the small spring off the ends of the arms on to the posts by a suitable tool.
I have disclosed a speciiic embodiment of my invention, but it is understood that I am not restricted to the specific form shown, the invention being limited onlyvby the scope of the appendedclaims.

Ina tool ofthe character described, a pair of arm members, projections on the arm members intermediate the ends, means for pivoting the two arms together at said proj'ecticns,aspring assembly comprising a pair of pins connected together by a pair of springs, and means for supporting said spring assembly across the two members so that said pins are in alignment with the pivot or at either side thereof.

In a tool of thecharacter described, a pair of arm members, projections onthe arm members intermediate thek ends, means for pivoting the two arms together at'said projections, aspring assembly comprising a pair of pins connected together by a pair of springs, and means for supporting said spring assembly across the twoemembers so that said. pins are'in alignment with the pivot or .at either side thereof, said means comprising a plural-ity of indentations in alignment with each other on each of the arm members.

In a tool of the character described, a pair of arm members each having its ends shaped to facilitate grasping relatively small articles, a relatively thin projection on one of said arm members intermediate the ends thereof, a relatively thin projection on the other arm member positioned to lie along the projection of the first arm member and maintain the two arms in alignment, pivot means for the arm members comprising a` member having an internally threaded shank extending through apertures in the two projections, a Washer and a machine screw extending through `the washer into said internally threaded shank, a spring assembly comprising a pair of pins, and a pair of springs engaging the ends of the pins, and means for supporting said spring assembly on the arm members so that the pins are in alignment either with the pivot or in alignment at either side of the pivot.
