Description
June 20, 1933. L. J. BADGLEY DETACHABLE HANDLE FOR TOWELS Filed June 26 1950 Patented June 2G, 1933 PATENT OFFICE LAWRENCE J. BADGLEY, OF
CRIPPLE CREEK, COLORADO DETACHABLE HANDLE FOR TOWELS Application filed June 28,
The invention relates tov improvements of a massage towel connected with clamping handles.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple, cheap, and efficient device which j can readily be attached to the ends of a folded towel, which will afford means whereby the said towel can be firmly held in the hands, and by means of which greater pressure can be applied, rapidly, evenly, and with little fatigue.
Other features of the invention will be fully set forth in the description of the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a perspective view of my improved handles, attached to the end portions of a folded turlish towel.
Figure 2 is a section of the handle on the line 2 2 in Figure l, showing the same in 20 clamping position, and the elastic bands seated.
Figure 3 is an exterior View of one clamping section, showing the construction of the fiaring ends.
Figure e is an interior view of one clamping section, showing the contiguous opposing face, the flaring ends, and the shoulders.
Figure 5 is an end view of the said sections, clamped, the elastic band being seated.
The same reference characters indicate the same parts in all the views.
Referring to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, the two elongated sections are alike in construction, the said sections, each having one contiguous opposing face 3 bearing against towel Fig. 2, and an endwardly facing shoulder 2. The outer surface of each member near each end l iiares outwardly.
The shoulder 2 forms a stop to prevent the elastic bands 4: from slipping in from the ends of the handle while the flare prevents them from working outwardly.
In placing the handles on a towel, two sections are placed with their clamping faces 3 together, and one of the elastic bands 4L is placed on one end of the handle. This holds the two sections together at that end. The other ends of the sections are separated, 50 permitting one end of the longitudinally 1930. Serial No. 463,947.
folded towel to be easily inserted between the two sections. The separated ends of the handle sections are then brought together, clamping the towel between them, and the other elastic band is placed on this end of the handle.
The said bands, when seated, project beyond the outer end portions of the said sections forming bumpers.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is` l. A detachable handle for a towel, said handle comprising a pair of elongated members forming the body of the handle and having opposed faces between which the towel may be clamped, an endwardly facing shoulder on the outer surface of each member near each end of the handle, the bands being seated on the flared portions of the members and against the shoulders.
2. A detachable handle for a towel, said handle comprising a pair of elongated members forming the body of the handle and having opposed faces between which the towel may be clamped and an endwardly facing shoulder on the outer surface of each member near each end of the handle, the elastic bands being seated on the portions of the members beyond the shoulders, the inner edges of the elastic bands being against the shoulders and the outer edges projecting beyond the ends of the elongated members forming bumpers.
In testimony whereof I ax my signature.
LAWRENCE J. BADGLEY.
