4 UNITED STATES OFFICE L eusr A, CARLSTEDT AND HARRY A. he arin, or nmvio vns, wnsrimeron DISPLAY Application filed September provision of a cabinet of circular shape, pref erably arranged for rotation, and having an improved construction of partition members whereby the chutes for holding the merchandise in thecabinet are of extremely light weight, the partition members providingalso panels separating the backs of the chutes and having means for mounting glass panels forming the front walls of the chutes.
The invention will be described in detail hereinafter and will be foundillustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which t Figure 1 is a front view of the cabinet shown partly broken away and in section, Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view on an enlarged scale on a plane indicated by the line 2- -2'of Figure 1,
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view on a plane indicated by the line 3-3 of Figure 2,
Figure 4 is a horizontal sectional view on a plane indicated by the line 4-4 of Figure 1, e
Figure 5 is a detail sectional view on a plane indicated by the line 5-5 of Figure 1, 1
Figure 6 is a fragmentary sectional view of one of the partition units, and
Figure 7 is a sectional detail on a plane indicated by the line 77 of Figure 1.
In the drawings similar reference characters are used to designate corresponding parts in all the views. 7
The invention relates particularly to a circular or cylindrical cabinet, and as shown in the drawingsmay be of the rotary type, 1
designating a base for supporting the cabinet, and having a pin 2 on which is rotatably mounted a bottom member 3 having a hub 4 mounted on said pin 2.
Secured to the bottom member 3 are a pluby a flange 16 on the lower portion of the give rigidity to thecabinet. The sheetmetal orming each partition unit "5 is bent into triangular shape inplan view, having' two sides 6 forming side walls of merchandise chutes 7 and the third side 8 providing panels between said chutes 7. The sheet metal where it converges to form the angle between the sides 6 is bent outwardly toform flanges 9 having their-outer ends connectedby a web 10 serving to strengthen said flanges 9. It will be: apparent that the flanges 9 on adjacent partition units providejointly the rear wall for the chute in each instance to: hold the merchandise from rearward movement relatively to the outer side of the cabinet.
Secured to the outerface of each of the sides 8 ofthe partition units 5 is anopen 7 frame 11 substantially defining, the shape of said side 8, said frame being also madeaof sheet metal and having the inner edges. of the verticalsides of the frame bent inwardly as shown at'12 to space the outer face of the frame from the side 8 and provide grooves 13 to receivepanels of glass or other trans-7 parent material 14 that form the outer walls of the chutes 7. The sides 6 and 8 of the partition units 5are bent inwardly as shown at 15 to provide means whereby merchandise in the chutes 7 may be dispensed by removing the lowermost article of merchandise, it being understood that the articles in the chute will be fed downwardly by gravity as the articles are dispensed. The panels 14 extend only down to the portions 15 and are held in position spaced from the bottom member 3 frame 11.
17 indicates an inbentextension of one of the sides 6 or 8, preferably 8, at the top of the partition members 5, and 18 indicates an annular member secured to said inbent portion 17 by means of rivets or bolts 19 as best shown 9 in Figure 3. 2O designates a cover or cap member having a circumferential downwardly extending flange 21 that seats on the upper portions of the partition units 5, said cap member being removable for removal of the transparent panels 14 when it is desired to reload the chutes 7.
What is claimed is In a display cabinet, circular top and bottom elements, partition members connecting said top and bottom elements and each of which is formed of a single piece of sheet metal bent into triangular shape in horizontal section and having one side forming the outer side of a cabinet casing and the other sides forming the adjacent walls of contiguous chutes for packages of merchandise, the edges of said other sides internally of the casing bent outwardly thereof forming flanges cooperating with similar flanges on contiguous partition members and providing stops at the rear ofsa'id chutesfor holding merchandise packages therein, a web connecting the free edges of said flanges to strengthenrthem, the lower portion of said outer side bent upwardly and inwardly and the contiguous portions of said other sides bent inwardly providing a recess for grasping .thelowest merchandise package in the chute for its removal, open rectangular frames having, inbent flanges secured to the outer sides of adjacent partition members and forming therewith guides for transparent panels forming the fronts of said chutes, and said frames also having inbent flanges of their loweredges forming stops for-said panels, said last mentioned stops being spaced above the bottom element at substantially the same 'heightas the height of the recesses in'thc partitions. 1
In testimony where of we aflix our signatures.
