I This invention relates generally to'the spinning rings, employed; in connection with spinning machines, and more particularly to im; provements in the combined construction of the spinningring and its holder.
One of theob'ects of the invention is to provide a self-contained spinning ring whereinapositive and uniform bearingfor thebar traveler is provided, and which isz so constructed that it is not liable to becomewarp d ordistorted, 7 7;. v

As shown in {Figure 2, the vbottom of thebase member of the spinningring rests on the top side of;t he holder 14, and,its inner Wall or neck 20 is substantially concentricor axially alined with 'theholder-opening 15. The upper e'lge of the wall 20 of the ring islikewise rounded and its bearing surface is hardened and polished. It will be noted that thebottom Wall of the ring and the overhanging bearing flange 22 thereof are at a fixed distance from each other to freely accommodate the bearing ends of the bar-traveler.
By this construction, a-spinning ring is provided wherein the annular space '24 for the bartraveler is maintained constantand unifor1n,=the elements constituting it being an=integral and self-contained part .of the spinning ring and separate from the holder 14." Furthermore, the construction is such thatthe inner Wall or. neck 20.01? the ring positively limits the inward tipping movement of the .bar traveler and prevents the same coming incontactwith the bobbin and injuring the thread. In addition to these features, provision is made foriefiective lubrication of the bar traveler,the latter be ing adapted to dip into the lubricant contained in the ring from time to time, and .in

A device of the character described, comprising a flat, flangeless supporting member containing a central opening and havlng brackets rising from the outer edge thereof, and a ,self-contained-spinning ring detachably mounted "on said supporting member between its brackets and including an annular trough-like member adapted to receive a lubricant and a bearing flange for a bartraveler extending inwardly from the outer wall of said trough-like member toward the inner wall thereof and disposed in concentric spaced relation thereto, the bottom of the trough-like member resting flatwise on said supporting member. 7 v

3. A device of the character described,
comprising a supporting member consisting of a flat ring having brackets rising from the outer edge thereofiand aself=contained spinningi'ing fora bar-traveler mounted on said supporting member in contact with its brackets and including inner and outer con.- centrically spaced guide elementsfor the traveler, said spinning ringhavin'g a flat bottom resting on said supporting member, and the inner guide element of the spinning ring being substantially in line with the supporting ring opening. 4. A device of the character described, comprising a supporting member containing a centralopening and havin' brackets'rising from the outer edge thereog the remaining portion of said member. being substan tiallyflat and free from projections and a substantially trough-shaped, self-contained spinning ring for a bar traveler detachably mounted on said supporting member with its bottom resting flatwise thereon andgits periphery in engagement with the brackets thereof, saidring including'inner' and outer concentrically spaced guide elements for the traveler. A device of the character described, comprising a flangeles'sholder-ring having brackets rising from adjacent its periphery, and a spinning ring for a bar traveler detachably'mounted in flatwise overlying en-= gagement with said holder-ring and having its periphery in engagement with said -brack-' ets, and including "an annular trough-like member adapted to receive a lubricant and a bearing flange for'a bar travelen'overhanging said trough-like member and lterminating-at'its' inner edge-in spaced concentric relation to the inner Wall ofthe trough-like member.
6. A device of the character described,
and including integral guide elements disposed at substantially right angles to each other and terminating short of their adj oining free edges to provide an annular channel for the legs of the bar traveler.
