It is my object to provide an autographic register operated by. an electric motor having a switch which is set for operation by the downward movement of the stamping mechanism, the setting of which will be completed upon the impact of the time stamp with the stationery of the autographic register and the return upwardlyqofthe time stamp, whereupon the movement of the time stamp having set the switch mechanism for the operation of'the register upon the return of the time stem to its initial position, the switch can close t e circuit and the motor will e'ect 25 the sheets that have been stamped, but no urw ther sheets.

The 0 ration of the switch is as follows: It wi 'be noted that the driving gear 22 is loosely mounted, u n-the shaft'28 andjhat it is necessary to e ect'aconnection between i the gear 22 and shaft 23 by an interlocking switch mechanism which will be synchronizedwith the movement of the time stam The timestamp is so arrangedthat whentit is brought down and stamps the paginsheets such as 32, and then moves upwa y-out of engagement with the sheets, thecircuit will be closed and the worm 21 and worm gear 22 "I connected to the shaft 23 so that the motor can drive the shaft 23 through a cycle of operations until the tickets on the sheets 32 can be ejected, whereupon the motor will come to rest and lock it against further forward movement. This necessitates the stamping of each ticket because unless so stamped the machine cannot be operated either by the motor or by the hand operated handle, which will be hereinafter described.
Accordingly, when the Bowden wire 11 starts from the position shown in Figures 1 and 7, the switch lever 16 is down and the contacts18 and 19 are open. The sheets are unstamped and the machine is at rest. The downward movement to stamping position of the time stamp 2 results in moving the lever 16 to a horizontal position, which is a setting position. The result of this movement is to permit the release of the bell crank member 39 ofi of the pin 40 on the disk 41. This bell crank member is ivoted at 42 upon the lever 16 and is actuated by a spring 43. The upper end of the bell crank lever is formed with a hook 44 which is permitted to engage over the top of the lever 45 when the actuation lever 16 moves to horizontal position. This occurs under the influence of the spring 43. On the end of the lever 45 is pivoted a finger 46 ulled to the left hand by the spring 47. This finger 46 in rest position rests within the notch 48 of the disk 41. It overlies a cam nose 49 on the lever 45. The upper surface of the lever 45 has a shoulder 50 which presses the. contact member 18. When the time stamp 2 returns to its elevated position, it carries with it the lever 45 by reason of the action of the hook 44, thus elevating the member 46 and the 'nose 49. The spring 47 pulls the member 46 on top of the margin of the disk 41 so as to guide the nose 49 into similar engaging position so'that the two members will ride together on top of the'margin of the disk 41. When they do so, they serve to permit the connection of the disk 41 to the gear 22. On the gear 22 is a ratchet 22a engageable by a pawl 51 pivoted at 52 on the disk 41 and limited in its outward movement by the pin 53. This pawl is moved inwardly by the spring 54 connected to the disk' 41 at 55 and to the pin 56 through the slot 57 in the disk 41.
Thus the pawl 51 is spring pressed into engagement with the ratchet 22a to connect the shaft 23 on which the disk 41 is pinned by the pin 41a to the driving gear 22. The action of the'pawl 51 is controlled b the lever 58 ivoted at 59 on the disk 41 w ich has a hoo 60 that is not free to operate so long as the nose 49 retains it in inoperative position, which in turn retains the pawl 51 in inoperative position withv respect to the ratchet 22a. But upon lifting of the nose 49 the parts can be connected to ether and the motor can drive the shaft 23 t rough a cycle of operations until the notch 48 again comes beneath the members 46 and 49, permitting them to drop down into inoperative position under the influence of the sprin 49a. This disconnects the motor and" its riven gears 21 and 22 from the shaft 23. It is impossible to operate the machine without again stamping the next set of sheets 32.
In the event it is desired to operate the machine by hand instead of by electric ower, the handle 61 can be employed, but it li ewise will be locked against movement until the mechanism is unlocked and interlocked by the action of the time stamp 2 as heretofore described, whereupon the sheets can be ejected by a single cycle of operations, after which they will be again locked against further movement until there is another actuation of the time stamp.
It will be understood that I desire to com- I prehend within my invention such modifications as may be necessary to adapt it to varying conditions and uses. I
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In combination, an autographic register, means of ejecting sheets therefrom, and a time stamp adapted to stamp the sheets in the register and means connected therewith for unlocking said register and means connected to said unlocking means for causing the ejection of the sheets so stamped.
2. In combination, an autographic register, a time stamp, means for ejecting sheets from said register, an electric motor therefor, an electric switch controlling said motor, and means connected to said time stamp for actuating said switch in accordance with the operation of the time stamp.
3. In combination, an autographic register, a time stamp, means for ejecting sheets from said register, an electric motor therefor, an electric switch controlling said motor, and means connected to said time stam for actuating said switch in accordance with the operation of the time stamp, and yielding means for returning said time stamp to its initial position with its actuating means.
4. In combination, an autographic register having a plurality of sheets, means for ejecting said sheets, a time stamp for stamping said sheets, a motor for driving said ejecting means, a switch for said motor operable by said time stamp whereby when the stamp is applied the switch is closed and the motor runs through a cycle of operations to eject the sheets, stamp, and the switch opens at the end of the ejecting movement.
5. In combination, an autographic register having a plurality of sheets, means for ejecting said sheets, a time stamp for stamping said sheets, a motor for driving said ejecting means, a switch for said motor operable by said time stamp whereby when the stamp is applied the switch is closed and the motor runs through a cycle of operations to eject the sheets, means to open the switch at the end of the e 'ecting movement, and means for locking sai actuating mechanism against further movement until initiated by another stamping operation of the-time stamp.
6. In an autographic register, means to eject a sheet of paper, a motor for operating said means, a time stamp for stamping said sheet, said stamp being operatively connected to the motor for starting it, and means operated by the motor for stopping the motor after a definite period of operation.
7 In an autographic register, means for ejecting-a sheet of paper, a shaft operatively connected to said means, a gear loosely mounted on said shaft, and means bperating under one condition to cause the gear tomtate and to lock the shaft to the ear and under another condition to lock t e shaft against rotation and to release the gear from the shaft.
8. In an autographic register, means for ejecting a sheet of paper, a shaft operatively connected to said means, a gear loosely mounted on said shaft, atmotor for rotating said gear, a switch for starting and stopping said motor, and means adapted in one position to close the switch and to cause the gear to be connected to the shaft and in another position to open the switch and to disconnect the gear from the shaft.
9. In an autographic register, means to 36 eject a sheet of paper, a time stamp for stamping said sheet, a shaft operatively connected to said means a gear loosely mounted on said shaft, and means operated by the time stamp j and operating under one condition to cause 40 the gear. to rotate the shaft and to lock the shaft to the gear and under another condition to lock the shaft against rotation and to release the gear from the shaft.
10. In an autographic register, means to eject a sheet of paper, a time stamp for stamping said sheet, a shaft operatively connected to said means, a gear loosely mounted on said shaft, a motor'for rotating said ear, a switch for starting and stopping sai motor, and
means operated by the time stamp and adapted in one position to close the switch and to cause the gear to be connected to the shaft V and in another osition to open the'switch and disconnect the gear from the shaft.
