The present invention relates to a'broom and mop holder construction made primarily of sheet metal, and one object of the in vention isto make such a construction light, strong, ehicient and practical in service.

According to the invention of said Patent No. 1,485,092 and also according to the con-t struction of .the present invention, there is a central triangular or trapezoidal portion, to wit, a substantially triangular portion, providing downwardly and 'outwardly extending faces upon and along which grip- .ping rollers can operate, vertically extend ingfeii'dfmembers or handle resisting and holdingmernbers against which handleso'i' brooms, inops, or'the like, can press andbe held by and because of the wedging eflectof the gripping rollers. One'aspect of the present invention contemplates the forming of these gripping rollers of a Vyieldable resilient material such as rubber and providing on the peripheral portions of each roller what may be termed peripherally arranged grooved portions thus providing rib portions extending in the same general'direction as the axis of the roller.

With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the drawing-and pointed out inthe'claims hereto appended, it being understood that various "changes in form, proportion, and minor "details of construction within the "scope of the claims may be resorted to without "departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

and 7. When the plate shown in F ig; 4 is bent so as to produce the body member shown in Figs. 5, 6 and 7, it will be observed that the following characteristics exist. Assuming that the parts occupiedin position which the broom and mop. holding occurs when in use, then it will be observed that the part ABBA provides ajcentrally located forward portion that extends vertically and transversely, that' from the lateral edges of this trapezoidal or triangular shaped forward section that rearwardly extends downwardly and outwardlyinclined roller supporting surfaced portions defined by the parts ABD-C which are in the forms of parallelograms, that from the rear edges CD of these parallelogram sections that extend outwardly what may be termed vertically and transversely extending substantially trapezoidal spacing sections defined by CDEF, the outer edges of which, EF,'extend substantially vertically and that from the edges EF there forwardly projects end sections or handle resisting members defined by E-FGH. As a matter of fact, the end sections EFGH, while in effect rectangular in form, are outwardly bowed along the central portions thereof as indicated at J to provide a curved receiving space for the handles of the'broom or mop.

The forward central section is provided with rivet receiving openings 12 whereby the front plates can be secured to the back member through the mediumof the rivets 4t, 5 and 6, as previously referred to. It will be also observed that the ends G-H indicated by 18 in Figs. 6 and 7 practically extend forwardly to the plane defined by the front of the trapezoidal central portion A-B- B'A and which portion is designated by let in Figs. 6 and 7. i I

The front member Shas a horizontal dimension or width equal to the length of the base A-A of the forward central trapezoidal or triangular section A-B-BA.

The outer vertical edges ofthe plate 3 are spaced fromthe forward edges 13 of the end members sufficiently to permit the ins'ertion or removal of a mopor broom handle as and when desired. Itwill also be'noted that the distances between the outer vertical edges of the front plate3 and the edges 18 are less than the diameter of the comprestendin face portion ABB-A, as is apparent from inspection of Fig. 6. In other words, this inclined section is positioned so that because of the horizontal surface su porting elements just mentioned the su stantially cylindrical rollers 9 will properly rest against the same. Holes 15 are provided in each of the trapezoidal spacing sections CDEF, whereby the device as a whole can be suitably supported in place as by nails in a wall structure and in order to facilitate the inserting of the nails through this back member these holes are located outwardly in respect to the side edges of the front member 3. It will also be observed that small hook shaped members, as 16, 17 and 18, are provided, the hook member 16 beingprovided in the front central portion of the structure and is held in place by means of a rivet 5 so that the hook portion can extend forwardly and upwardly inrespect to the front plate 3. The side hooks l7 and 18 are riveted to the central portion of the vertically extending end'sections so that the hooks extend outwardly and upwardly in respect thereto but in such a. manner that the rivet heads 19 at the inner side of said end sections do not substantially extend beyond the inner faces of said end sections.

What I claim:

1. A. broom and mop holder comprising a sheet metal body member, a sheet metal front member connected to the body member and two clamping rollers in association with said members, said body member being for med of a sheet of substantially. rectangular shaped metal bent-so as to provide a vertically and transversely extending central forward section of substantially triangular co'nfiguration with the base of the triangle arranged lowermost, from the inclined side edge portions of said central forward sectionflthere rearwardly extends downwardly and outwardly inclined "parallelogram shaped sections, having horizontal surfaced elements that extend at'right angles tothe outer edge portions of said trapezoidal bridging sections a vertically extending end section or handle resisting member, the sheet metal front member being arranged so that it extends vertically andtransversely and being substantially rectangular in shape and of a width substantially equal to the length of the base portion of the forward central substantially triangular body section whereby there is provided a receiving and holding space for the clamping rollers, the outer edges of the central rectangular section and the forward edges of the end sections or resisting members being spaced a sulficient distance from each other to permit the insertion therethrough of a mop or broom handle but being of less distance than the diameter of the clamping rollers, one of which clamping rollers is positioned between one of its end sections and its corresponding inclined parallelogram shaped sections and the other of which rollers is provided between the other end sections and its corresponding inclined parallelogram shaped section.

1 2. A broom and mop holder as defined in and by the claim last preceding in which the rollers are of rubber and have peripherally arranged corrugations providing rib portions paralleling roller axes.

3. A broom and mop holder constructed as defined in and by claim 1, in which the body member is provided with spaced openings for receiving securing means which openings are arranged in the bridging sections and are located outwardly in respect to the edges of the sheet metal front member and in which there is provided three auxiliary hooks one of which is secured in front of the central portion of the sheet metal front member and extends upwardly and forwardly therefrom and the other two of which hooks are secured to the end sections or resisting members and extend outwardly and upwardly therefrom.
