This inventionrelate's to a furnace above which a boiler is located, the walls of the furnace and the boiler proper being so dis: posed as not to interfere with each other when expansion and contraction takes place,
The invention will be understoodfrom the description in connection with the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a ver tical section through an illustrative embodi ment of the invention; Fig. 2 is a section through a side wall of the furnace taken along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is. a sec-.

In the drawings, reference character linof the stoker 2. I
A boiler of. the Babcock & Wilcox type is I located-a'bove'the furnace and comprises the I .usual steam andwater drum 3, downtake headers a, uptake headers 6, nipples 5, 011'- culating tubes 7, banks of inclined tubes 8 and 9 and bafies 10 for directin the gases from the furnace across the ba 8 and9 and into the outlet 11.
" A pipe 12 connects the steam space ofthe steam and'water drum 3 to the inlet header of the superheater "13. The outlet'iheader of the superheater is indicated at 14. The su-f perheater is located between the banks of tubes 8 -and 9 and is supported'upon the boiler parts. A support 15 for the superheater is shown restlng upon the upper row of inclined tubes 8.
A transyerse'support 16 1s provided near the upper end of the rear wall of the furnace with a plate 17 resting upon this support. Supporting members 18, provided with curved sup orting shoulders 19, rest upon I the plate 1 and support the upper curved ends of the furnace wall tubes 20 in the rear wall of the furnace. The tubes 20 extend 22 thatis. supported upon the to the tubes.20
v of tubes an upper header '21 thatre'sts upon a saddle i on the'support' 16, the U-bolts 2 retaining the header 21 in place. Title 25, such as Bailey blocks, for example, are connected ,The'lowerends of the tubes 20 extend outwardly and are connected to the lower header 26and may be supported in part by means of the springsupports 27 from-the transverse support 28. The headers 21 and 26 may beconnected to the circulation. system of the, boiler and to each other by means of'tubes I 30 in the usual way.
'A channel 29 extends across the supporting members 18 and rests thereupon. The lower ends of the headers 6 and the corresponding rackets 23 wall of the'boiler proper rest upon the channel 29 and are thereby supported at the bottom so that the parts will expand upwardly;
The furnace wall expands downwardly and is supported by the same support as the corresponding wall of the boiler. transverse'support31'1sprovided near the A plate. 32 rests upon the support 31. Suping members 18, rest upon the plate 32 and support the upper outwardly curved ends of the'furnace wall tubes 34 that'extend into the hea'der'35. The header 35 is supported by a saddle 36' that is in turn'supported by the support 3i and the I-beam 137, U-bolts 38 holding the header 35 in place in the saddle 36. 1 i v The lower ends ofthe tubes 34 extend out-' lower portions of the tubes '34 may beconnected'to and supported bythe I-beams 39;
Tile 40, such as Bailey blocks, for example, are connected to the tubes '34. Tubes 41 may connect the headers 35 and 39 to e'ach other and to the circulation system of theboiler in the usual way. I A channel 42 extends'across the supporting members33 and-issupported thereby. The lower ends ofthe downtake headers .4or the -mud drum 4' rest upon the channel 42 and are supported thereby, together with the corresponding wall of the boiler so that the parts I will expand upwardly. By supporting the boiler parts at the bottom, so that they will expand upwardly and locating the superheater in the position described, so as to be supported by the boiler parts, the superheater will not be moved up and down appreciably,
due to expansion of the boiler parts, so that l the connection of the outlet header 14 of'the' superheater to the steam .mains willnot be seriously interfered with by theslight movement due to expansion and contraction.
A transverse support45 is provided at each I side of the side walls of the furnace near their upper edges. A plate 46 rests upon this support 45. Supporting members 47' with inclined shoulders 48 for the upper outwardly inclined portions of the, furnace wall tubes 49 rest upon the plate 46. The tubes 49 extend into a header 50 that is supported by the supporting members 47. Tile 5 1,such as ing parts of the furnace'walls and the boiler arts.
p The lower headers 26 ofthe front and rear walls and the lower header 53 of the side walls of'the furnace are each arranged so that they can move downward with expansion of the furnace walltubes when the headers to a which the upper ends of these tubes are connected are fixed in position 'Iclaim:-
