This invention relates to a novel and improved dispensing container for tablets and the like, and will best be understood by reference to the following description, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing of one specific embodiment thereof, while its scope will be pointed out more particularly in the appended claims.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a container exemplifying the invention, showing the outer cover in full lines in itsclosed position, partly broken away, and in dotted lines in its open position;

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the shell which presents an inner cover;

Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 1; and

Fig. 4 is a development of the inner shell.

Referring to the drawing, and to the embodiment of the invention which is illustrated therein, and having reference at first to Fig. 1, there is shown a box comprising a rectangular body 5, having a bottom 6 and upwardly-projecting side walls, conveniently in the form of a continuous flange 7, about all four sides. The box is provided with a rectangular cover 8, having a top 9 and downwardly projecting side walls, conveniently formed by a continuous flange 10, about all four sides, and disposed about the sides of the box body. In Fig. 1, the cover is shown infull lines in its closed position, and in dotted lines in its open position. The cover may be hinged along one ed e to the body, as is usual with small metal ic boxes of this type.

Within the box body, there is an inner cover 11 (see Fig. 2) of appropriate material such as card-board, having .a sufficient thickness to enable it to keep its shape, it being supported within the box body by suitable means, herein integral flanges or

12, 13, 14 and 15, while at the bottom there is a 5 cardboard lining 16, which may be a separate member, as shown in Fig. 3, or an integral part of one of the flaps, herein the flap 15 as shown in Fig. 4, which...illustrates the cut and scored blank in readiness to be folded for insertion into the box body.

At one corner of the inner cover, herein the front left corner, there is an opening 17, which is shown as circular and tagent to the inner surfaces of the

12 and 14, adjacent their intersection. When, therefore, the container is used for circular and'lozengeshaped, medicinal tablets, such as the tablets 18 shown in Fig 3, slightly less in diameter than the opening, the tablets may be dispensed through said opening one at a time, by simply inclining the container so that a tablet will gravitate to a position beneath the opening, whereupon a light tap on the corner of the box upon the users fingertip, or a slight up and down shake of the container will cause the tablet to be ejected from the opening into the palm of the left hand, the container being held in the right hand. The inner paper shell also constitutes a lining for the outer metallic box, and keeps the tablets in. good condition. I

Having thus described one embodiment of the invention, but without limiting myself thereto, what I claim and desire by Letters Patent to secure is:

1. In a dispensing. container for tablets and the like, the combination of a box comprising a rectangular body having a bottom and upwardly projecting side walls, a rectangular outer cover having a top and downwardly projecting side walls about the side walls of said body, and an inner cover within said body and having a top and downwardly projecting side walls within the side walls of said body, said inner cover topbeing provided adjacent one corner with a circular opening tangent to the inner faces of two adjacent side walls of said inner cover.

2. In a dispensing container for tablets and the like, the combination of a box comprising a rectangular body having a bottom and upwardly projecting side walls, a ree tangular outer cover having a top and downwardly projecting side walls about the side walls of said body, and an inner cover within said body and having a top and downwardly projecting side walls within the side Walls of'said body, said inner cover top being provided adjacent one corner with an pening through which the tablets may be dispensed.

3. In a dispensing container for tablets and the like, the combination of a box comprising a body, an imperforate outer cover, and an inner cover spaced from the bottom of said box body to provide a single storage space for the tablets, said inner cover being provided with an opening through which the tablets may be dispensed.

4;. In a dispensing container for tablets and the like, the combination of a box comprising a body having a bottom and a plurality of upwardly projecting side walls,

an outer cover having a, top and a plurality of downwardly projecting side walls, an inner cover provided with an opening adjacent the intersection of two side walls of said body, nd means spacing said inner cover from the bottom of said body.

5. In a dispensing container for tablets and the like, the combination of a box comprising a body having a bottom and a plurality of upwardly p'rojectingside walls, an outer cover having a top and a plurality of downwardly projecting side walls, an inner cover provided with an opening adjacent the intersection of two side walls of said body, a plurality of flanges attached to and projecting downwardly from said inner cover and spacing the latter from the bottom of said body.

6. In a dispensing container for tablets and the like, the combination of a box comprising a body having a bottom and a plurality of upwardly projecting side walls, an outer cover having a top and a plurality of downwardly projecting side walls, an inner cover provided with an opening adjacent the intersection of two side walls of said body, a plurality of flanges attached to and projecting downwardly from said inner cover and spacing the latter from the bottom of said body, and a bottom lining upon the inner surface of the bottom of said body.

7. In a dispensing container for tablets and the like, the combination of a box com prising a body having a bottom and a plurality of upwardlyprojecting side walls, an outer cover having a top and a pluralit of downwardly projecting side walls, an inner cover provided with an opening adjacent the intersection of two side walls of said body, a plurality of flanges attached to and projecting downwardly from said inner cover and spacing the latter from the bottom of said and a bottom' lining upon the inner y sur ace of the bottom of said body, said bottom lining being attached to one of said flanges.
