' This inventionrelates to 4brushes suitable for personal, animal, or commercial uses and has for its chief object to V,provide an I article `which willbe hygienic and efficient and' which canbe readily cleaned and' is renewable or replaceable when necessary.

According to y,thepresent invention, the head or stock of the brush is composed or Y consists of a series of separate and separable units vor sectionseach carrying a competent number of bristles or the like. .These units are arranged in rows or parallel with each other within an enclosing or surrounding frame wherein they can be secured for use'by Y a sliding, hinged or other lid, flap or'closure.`

A further object of the present invention is to provide for the exclusion of dust or the like from such brushes when not in use.`

ln the embodiment of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1 to 3; the body or stock of the brush is rectangular in plan, but it may be round, oval or of other desired shape or form. Y

The bristlecarrying portion or brush proper is comprised of a series of similar units or sections A which areeach provided with a single row of bristles B. These units or sections are conveniently rectangular in cross v section so that they iit snugly and evenly against or alongside each other.'A These sections may be made of wood, rubber, ebonite,

metal or other ap-propriate material.

By forming the bristle portion of a brush in separate and separable sections or units, the brush can be assembled orl disassembled quickly and easily, so that each unit can be separately cleaned or sterilized and to a degree not attainable with hitherto known brushes and the time occupiedin such operations is greatlyfreduced. Likewise the life time of abrush is prolonged, since a worn or defective unit4 can be removed and replaced by a good one.

Stil-l'further, the manufacture of abrush is simplified. and cost reduced, since any required forms or sizes of brushes can all be made up from a standard bristle-carrying stock. y

What I claimisz'-y l. A/hdetachably assembled brush comprising a. frame having side walls and arremovable top wall, the bottom of said frame being open, the inner `lower surface of certain of said side walls being provided withinwardly projecting flanges, a plurality of elongated separable bristle-carrying units having ltheir end portions formed to cooperate with the inwardly projecting flanges of the side walls of the frame, said units being positioned in parallel arrangement in said frame with the bristles projecting through the opening in the: bottom of said frame, said removable coverand the inwardly projecting flanges of the side walls of the frame cooperating to retain the bristle-carrying units Iin assembled relation.

A 'detachablyasse-mbled brush comprising a substantially rectangular frame defined by side walls and open at the top and bottom thereof, a pair o f said side walls having inwardly projecting flanges provided at the lower portion thereof, a plurality of elongated separable bristle-carrying units having their ends formed to. cooperate with Vthe-inwardly projecting flanges of the side walls `of the frame, said units adapted to be inserted through the open top of the frame thereof, a' pair of said side walls having inwardly projecting flanges provided at the lower portion thereof, a plurality of elongated separable bristle-carrying units having Ytheir ends formed to cooperate with the inwardly projecting flanges of the side walls of the frame, said unitsV adapted to be inserted through the openl top of the frame with the bristles extending through the open bottom, with the ends of said units on the inwardly extending' Yflanges and with the body portions of the elongated units arranged parallel to each other, a pair of said side walls being provided with longitudinal grooves sHoz-ABURo AKI.,
