Our invention is primarily intended for being used as a fishing tool for the recovery of magnetic objects disposed at remote locations in restricted areas that cannot be normally fish-ed or removed therefrom, because of the remoteness of the same and the restricted area in which the object to be recovered, is disposed.
Our invention is ideally adapted for the removing of floating and semi-floating axles, the outer ends of which have been broken off,
and which are not easily recovered from the axle housing of motor vehicles.
The invention is primarily comprised of a magnetic core having a magnetic coil disposed therearound. A non-magnetic shell being disposed about the core to seal the same therein. A handle is removably secured to the body of the core and electrical connections are carried therethrough and terminated at the juncture of the handle and the core. A switch being disposed within the conductor to facilitate the energizing of the device when required.
One of the objects of our invention is to provide a pulling device that is adapted for being used in restricted areas and so constructed that the same may be used in the presence of liquid without short circuiting the 0 device.
A further object of our invention consists in so constructing the pulling device that the same will be comprised of a minimum number of parts and that may be connected to any electric circuit with a minimum of effort. A
switch being disposed within the support adjacent the handle of the puller so that the same may be energized while the puller is in the hands of the operator.
One of the objects of our invention consists in providing a simply constructed tool so made that the same is made liquid tight to facilitate its use in the presence of liquids,
. greases, oils and the like.
A further object of our invention consists in so constructing the device that the same may be used by those unskilled in electrical and mechanical devices.
A further object of our invention consists in so constructing the same that it will have a long and useful life and that will be relatively free from operating annoyances.
With these andincidental objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combination of parts, the essential elements of which are set forth-in the appended claims, and a preferred form of embodiment of which is hereinafter shown with reference to the drawing which accompany and form apart of this specification.

Like reference characters refer to like parts throughout the several views. I preferably form my device of a core 1,
having an outer head 2 fixedly secured to the core 1. The inner head 3 is fixedly secured to the core 1, and the same is threaded 9 upon its interior as illustrated at 4, to facilitate the removable attachment of the handle 5 thereto. The handle 5 is hollow to permit the carrying of an electric conductor 6 therethrough. The outer end 7 of the handle 5 being closed excepting, to permit the passing of the conductors 6 therethrough.
The core 1 is made in the form of a spindle to facilitate the passing of a relatively large number of turns of the electrioconductors 8 therearound to form a magnetic core of a maximum magnetic capacity.
A metal shell 9 is disposed about the core and is secured to the respective heads to form a liquid tight head. An opening 10 is disposed through the inner head through which the electric conductors are permitted to pass. The handle 5 is threaded upon its inner end, as illustrated at 11, to facilitate the removable attachment of the handle to the head 4. A non-metallic disc 12 is disposed between the inner end of the handle 11 and the inner core head 4. to insulate the same from the conductors that pass through the openings 13 disposed within the non-metallic disc 12. A switch l t is disposed within the conductor 6 and adjacent the handle to permit the energizing of the core by the workmen with greatest facility.
lVhile the form of mechanism herein shown and described is admirably adapted to fulfill the objects primarily stated, it is to be understood that it is not intended to confine the invention to the one form of embodiment herein shown and described, as it is susceptible of embodiment in various forms, all coming within the scope of the claims which follow.
hat we claim is:
1. In a device of the class described, the combination of a core, heads fixedly secured to the oppositely disposed ends of the core, the head forming the inner end of the core being elongated, reduced and internally threaded to facilitate its attachment to a handle, a hollow handle threadably attachable to the core, an electric conductor extending longitudinally within the handle and terminating in a magnetic coil disposed about the core, a non-magnetic jacket disposed about the head assembly and so secured thereto as to form a liquid tight head, and a switch disposed in the conductor and adjacent the outer end of the handle.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination of a core, removable heads forming the opposite ends of the core, an endless electric coil disposed about the core, between the heads a non-magnetic metal shell disposed about the coil and the core and secured thereto to form a liquid tight magnetic head, a hollow handle threadably secured to the inner end of the core, an electric conductor disposed longitudinally within the handle and terminating in the coil, a non-metallic disc disposed between the inner end of the handle and the head of the core and disposed within the handle through which the electric conductor passes, and a switch disposed adjacent the outer end of the handle and within the electric circuit.
3. In a device of the class described, the combination of amagnetic core flanged at both of its ends, a shell disposed about the sides and one end of the core, and overlapping one of said flanges, said overlapped flange being elongated reduced and internally threaded to threadably receive one end of a hollow handle, an electric circuit extending through said handle and embracing said magnetic core.
