An object of the inventionv is to provide an inexpensive `necktie rack having sides with extending 'arms forI su porting neckties. The necktie rack has preferably a base with slots in its sides, the slots terminating at their inner ends in enlarged recesses in which enlarged portions of the supporting members are disposed with Shanks on the supporting members extendingl outwardlyin the slots and terminating inv arms which extend beyond the sidesof the base.

Another object of the invention is to provide the base `with, slots and the recesses eX- tending throughthe front and the back of the base and to retain the shanks and the enlarged portions of the supporting members in position by covering the ront and back of the base with front and back members.

Still another object of the invention is to o construct the supporting members of resilient material and to bend the arms of the supporting members beyond'the base away from each other and then towards each other so that each air of arms may grip a necktie.

A filrther object of the invention is to provide a novel means for supporting the base.

Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred form of the invention is described.

By referring to the drawing, it will be seen that the necktie rack has a body 10 with a plurality of slots 11 at each of its sides '12, the slots 11 extending through the said sides and having at their inner ends recesses or enlargements 13. The slots 11, each with a recess or enlarge-4` ment 13, are disposed at each side 12 of the body'lO and are spaced apart as illustrated in 55 Figure '-1 of the drawing. Cooperating with the slots 11 with their recesses or enlargements 13, there are supporting members 16, each 4of these supporting members 16 being made from an elongated, flat piece of material and having its central portion bent or curved at 17 to lit the recesses or enlargements 13, the members each having two Shanks 18 extending from the bent or curved portion 17, these .f Shanks 18 being disposed in the slot 11, and 65 the shanks beyond the side 12 of the body being bent away from each other at 19 and then in the direction of each other at 20 to form the

As has been stated, the supporting member 16 have their shanks 18 and thelr bent or curved portions 17 disposed in the slots 11 land the recesses or enlargements 13, the width of the elongated member being the same as the thickness of the body 10, so that the edges of the supporting members will be dis-l posed at the front and rear faces 14 and 15 of the body 10. When the supporting members 16 are disposed in the slots and recesses in the body 10 in the manner set forth, a back member 24 is disposed at the rear face of the body 10 and a front member 25 is disposed at the 8" front face of the body 10, these

24 and 25 being secured to the body 10 in any desired manner, preferably by glue, the

24 and 25 covering the edges of the Shanks and the bent or curved portions of the supporting member 16 and serving to retain the supporting member 16 in position relatively to the body 10.

What is claimed is: A 1. In a. necktie rack, a base normally dis-l posed verticall the base having a lurality of slots extendin through eachv of 1ts sides, A 5 each slot having 1ts top and bottom approximately parallel, with the inner end of the slot terminating in an enlargement and with the slots and the enlargement extending through the front and the back of the basegiwplurality of flat elongated supporting members of approximately the same width as the thickness ofthe base, each member having its central portion fitting one of the enlargements and. with two parallel Shanks disposed one above the other in the slotextending from the enlar ement, the Shanks having arms extending eyond the sides of the base, and front and back members secured to the front and back of the base for retaining the supporting members in position.

Ina necktie rack, a base normally disposed vertically, the base having a plurality of slots extending through each of its sides, each slot having its top and bottom approxi- 25 mately parallel, with the inner end of the slot terminating in an enlargement and with the slots and the enlargement extending through the front and the back of the base, a plurality of flat elongated supporting members of approximately the same width as the thickness of the base, each member having its central portion fitting one of the enlargements and with two parallel Shanks disposed one above the other in the slot extending from the enlargement, each pair of parallel Shanks having arms diverging for a distance beyond a side of the base, the arms then converging and extendin parallel for a distance, and front and bac members secured to the front and the back of the base for retaining the supporting members in position.
