UNITED STATES PATENT, oF'Fics Application-filed January 14, 1932. Serial No; 586,538.
Myjdevice relates to display cabinets and 14 and the removable glass top memberse 15 refers'particularly to display cases having 16 and 17. Extending longitudinally withiii a false bottom of such construction that when the casing are two walls 18 and 19, and also moved vertically its respective elements will extending longitudinally within the casing 5 retain a constant parallelism with the glass is a vertically movable false bottom 20, 21 55 cover of the device. and 22. The false bottom members and Devices of this character are designed to 22 have openings 23, 23 to facilitate the redisplay a plurality of commodities in an atmoval of the false bottom from the casing tractive and hygienic manner and should and its vertical movement therein. The false 16 be so constructed that they are capable of bottom elements 20, 21 and 22 are in planes 69 containing commodities of different sizes and parallel to the casing top members 15, 16 and sha e I, 17 respectively, and hence a vertical move- In order that contained commodities may ment of the false bottom will retain this parbe presented in the most attractive manner it allelism. The walls 18 and 19 are in planes is essential that they be'positioned as closely parallel to the false bottom members 22 and as possible to the under side of the glass 20 respectively. 7

tary products and a wide variety of fancy Each end portion of the element 25 is cut and wearing articles, it is evident that they away to allow the insertion of a vertical 75 should be so constructed as to permitthe member 28, which is fixedly attached to an articles to be positioned close to the glass end member 13 or 14 of the casing and from cover irrespective of their heights, and my which there is an inwardly extended threaded device accomplishes this desirable object in bolt 29.
a most efficient manner. a Vertically movable between each member 89 In my deviceI have a false bottom so ar- 28 and the top 25 of a guide is a member 30,
ranged that commodities, irrespective of their having a vertical slot 31 through which a bolt size, placed thereon may be positioned in close 29 extends and a top member 32 having the position to its glass cover. same angular formation as the false bottom.
The novelty and valuable properties of the The exposed faces of the members, 30, have 85 display case of my invention will be evident a plurality of corresponding horizontal lines upon a consideration of my specification and 33, 33. s its accompanying drawing, in which similar A Wing nut 34 and a washer 35 upon each 4 parts are designated by similar numerals. threaded bolt 29 allow of the fastening of the Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form members 30, 30 at any predetermined height. of the device of my invention; In order to cover the space between the Figure 2 is a section through the line 2-2 walls 18 and 19 and the lower ends of the of Figure 1, with several positions of the false bottom members 20 and 22, I place a false bottom indicated in designating linesi sheet of cardboard 20 and 22 thereon. Figure 3 is a section through the line 33 The operation of the device isas. follows f Fi u 1 i r The glass tops 15, 16 and 17, and the false The particular form of the device of my inbottom 20, 21, 22 are removed. 7 The wing vention illustrated in the accompanying nuts 34, 34 are loosened and the supporting drawing consists of a casing havingthe botmembers 30, 30 .are raised to the required tom 10, he sides 11 and 12, the ends 13 and height'and fastened by means of the wing nuts 35%, 34:, that the members 30, 30 are raised equally, being determined by the number of lines 33, 33 above the top 25. The false bottom is then placed within the casing, the commodities placed thereon and the glass top placed in position.
The broken lilies and the dot-and-dash lines in Figure 2 represent graphically different raised positions of the false bottom, indieating several distances between the false bottom and the glass top.
It will thus be seen that by raising or lowering the false bottom 20, 21, 22, my device can be arranged to accommodate commodities of different heights, in each case positioning them in the desirable position of close proximity to the glass cover.
I do not limit myself to the particular size, shape, number, arrangement or material of parts as shown and described as these are given. simply as a means for clearly describing the device of my invention.
