Patented Dec. 13, 1932 JULIA1\T SUETA AND ALBMTQ MANUEL GUASTAVINO, OF B'UENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA MQLDER FOR PAINTING- THE LIPS Application filed January 25, 1932, Serial No.
The fashion adopted by women of painting their lips having become general and same being a recourse of coquetry which means an obvious difficulty for many of them with regard to giving the mouth a harmonious form complying with the laws of beauty, we have planned a device. which forms the object of our invention, and by the means of which the operation of painting the lips may be performed with the utmost 'easiness and perfection even by the lesser skilful woman, and with a mastership worthy of the best beauty expert.
In accordance with the foregoing, our in vention relates to a device which, in the form of a mold and adapting itself to the exterior part of the mouth, discloses only the lips to be painted, in such a way that the operation of passing the lip stick along the disclosed portion and thereby nicely outlining and painting the lips becomes the simplest thing. It is unnecessary to point out that our device will have difierent shapes and sizes so as to adapt it to the different mouth types.
Keeping in mind this object and others, we shall now describe our device in detail.
On the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a front view of the device, while Figure 2 is a side View of same and Figure 3 shows the same as seen from above. 1 indicates a plate in which the bevelled (2) silhouette of the lip outline (3) is traced; the plate may consist of metal, celluloid or other suitable material. This plate (1) is by means of the extension on its lower portion connected to a small handle (4) which has a hollow interior 5 adapted to serve as a case for the lip stick. 6, finally, indicates the cover of said handle case.
The device may be a solid piece, or it may be foldable in its middle part (7 or, finally, it may consist of two detachable parts united by a screw, as shown on the drawing. The object pursued in making it either foldable or detachable is to reduce its size so that it can be carried in the handbag.
With a view to having the silhouette grooved in the plate adapt itself well to the lips, this plate (1), in addition to its adoption of the anatomical shape of the mouth 588,532, and in Argentina December 13, 1931.
painting tint. l Vhen the device is removed,
the lips will be unimpeachably painted.
We claim:
1. Stencil device for use in the painting of the lips comprising a plate with a central opening for disclosing the lips and having a curved upper and lower portion each provided with a bevelled edge defining the outline of the lips, the curved upper portion being formed in its center with an inwardly projecting guide for determining the correct position of the device over the mouth.
2. A stencil device as specified in claim 1, including a hollow handle adapted to contain the lipstick to be used with the device.
3. A stencil device as specified in claim 1, including a hollow handle adapted to contain the lipstick to be used with the device and a lid for said hollow handle.
4. A stencil device as specified in claim 1, including a lining of elastic material provided on the inside of said curved upper and lower portion.
