My invention relates to a folded bag and method of producing the same and has for its object to produce a bag folded so as to have re-entrant lower corners and adapted to be used as a lining for a container, the same being in convenient form for packing, shipping and storage. It also has for its object to produce such a bag which can be ballooned into substantially the shape of the container to be lined. It also has for its object to provide a method for producing such bag. The following is a descrip bodying my invention and the method of producing the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which,

In carrying out my improved method I use the apparatus shown and described in my Patent No. 1,508,125, dated September 9, 1924. the same consisting of a horizontal cross member 2 to which are pivoted semi-circular spreader leaves 4, means being provided as shown in said patent for moving said leaves from a somewhat vertical positon, as shown in Fig. 3, to a horizontal position as shown in Fig. 5, and vice versa.

In forming my lining I first form a bag seam shown in Fig; 1, the bag being preferably made of a longitudinally crinkled kraft paper or the like. I then place the bag over the former with the seam 8 above and parallel to the cross member 2. I then tuck the end portions 12 of the seam between the two leaves 4. of, the former, as shown in Fig. 4, so that these end portions are within the body of the bag and lie beneath the intermediate portion 10 of the seam 8. I then bring the leavcs 4 into horizontal position, as shownin Fig. 5, which action spreads the bottom of the bag and draws the portion 10 down toward 6 and a bottomseam 8, as p the cross member with the in turned ends of the seam and portions ad acent thereto beneath the portion 10 and portiohs adjacent thereto. Fig. 6. I then by hand pressure form a crease'around the periphery of-the leaves 4, this crease, conforming to the shape of the container to be lined. Thus, when a container is a-circular container and the former has semi-circular leaves, this crease w'n be acircular crease. I then hold the central portion 10' of the seam down in proximity member 2 and raise the members tinto approximately vertical position, thus forming a re-entrant fold in the bottom of the bag. I then lift the bag thus folded off of the former and still further collapse it so as to bring the opposing faces of the re-entrant folded portion together, as shown in Fig. 9, whereupon the bag is ready for packing for storage or shipment.
