This invention relates to an improved dispensing attachment for bottles, jugs, orthe like, and has for one of its principal objects the provision of means for supporting a jug,

Another important object of the invention is to provide a dispensing stand and support for a bottle or jug, which will enable the same to be kept covered when not in use,- thereby avoiding deterioration of the contents.

Another and still further important object of this invention is to provide a neat and ornamental dispensing support for a bottle, jug, or the like, wherein the same is normally held in upright position, but can be readily tilted into dispensing position, and also swung back and forth for agitation of the contents, if necessary.

Other and further important objects of the invention will be apparent from the disclosures in the accompanying drawing and following specification.

The invention, in a preferred form, is illustrated in the drawing and hereinafter more fully described.

The reference numeral 10 indicates generally a jug or jar which may be of glass, earthenware, or other suitable material, the jug illustrated being of a standard make and adapted to be used in the particular dispensing stand illustrated. Obviously, however, the size and dimensions of the dispensing stand may be varied to accommodate various sizes and shapes of jugs, bottles, or the like.

The upper end 26' of the member22 is cylindrical, -screw threaded and centrally positioned so as to enable this member to be readily screwed into locking position with the corresponding screw-threaded top 28 of the bottle or jug 10.3Thelengthof the downwardly extending skirt of the member 22 is such that the rim24 will contact with the band- 18 when the deviceis in proper positionon thejug' V Mounted upon the upper'end of the meme her 22 is a combination cover and spout composed of suitable metal or the like as shown at 30, this being fastened in position by means of screws or the like 32. A'rubber casting 34 is positioned betweenthe upper end of the cylindrical member 26 and the corresponding lower face 36 of an inwardly extending projection forming an integral portion of the spout member 30 'as illustrated. An opening 38 in the cap 26 allows the liquid from the jug 10 to flow outwardly through the opening 40 forming a continuation of the element 36, and an intake port 42 for air is likewise provided in the element 30, thereby flow of liquid from the, jug when the same is tilted into dispensing position about the pivots 16. Hingedly mounted on the top of the member 30 is'a cover 44 operated by means of'athumb piece or the like 46, the cover being normally held in closed position by means of a spring 48 fastened to an operating handle 50 also forming part of the dispensing spout.

It will be evident that herein is provided a neat and attractive dispensing attachment for bottles, jugs, or the like, which is particularly available and adapatable; for use in retailing beverages such as orange juice or the like. Further, the bottle is always closed when not in use, thereby avoiding deterioration of the contents, while at the same time there is provided a combination means for easily dispensing the contents and also agitating the contents in the event that such agitation is necessary before dispensing. I I am aware that many changes may be made, and numerous details of construction varied throughout a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention, and I therefore do not purpose limiting the patent granted hereon otherwise than as necessitated by the prior art.

I claim as my invention: V r

A dispensing attachment, comprising a liquid container in the form of a jug with a threaded neck, a cap adapted to be removably applied to the container, said cap com prising 'a spout, a cover hingedly mounted on the spout, an operating handle forming part of the cap, and a skirt attached to the cap and spout and projecting downwardly from the spout portion to inclose the upper end of the container, and having a central threaded portion for attachment to the container neck, and a pivotally mounted support for the assembled container and cap, said support comprising a stand, and a receiving element for the lower part of the container pivotally mounted in the stand, said receiving element adapted to contact at its upper edge with the lower edge of the cap when the'same are in position on the container, thereby inclosing the container.
