The invention relates to a bed or crib construction and more especially to a collapsible or folding babys cri wherein the sides and ends of the bed or crib can be extended or folded and when in extended position will be held firm and rigid for occupancy for sleeping or reclining pure poses and when folded permits the structure to be stored or placed. within a restricted area as it occupies a minimum of space.
Another object of the invention is the pro vision of a structure of this character, wherein the same is novel in form so that it can be carried conveniently for'transpoitingthe same from one point to another when not occupied, as for example; when traveling by automobile or when being shipped from one point to another and is readily portable, as
it is capable of being extended for use or folded when not in use. 7 j r A further object of the invention is the provision of a structure of this character, wherein the sides and ends are of novel form to permit the extending or contracting thereof and when extended the same will be braced to prevent accidental collapsing or folding.
A still further object-of the invention is the provision of a structure of this character c i will be hereinafter moreffully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which disclose the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

A both ..-at the top'andbottom ends and also at the sides of the bed or crib structure are vertical slats or guard bars 10, these. atzopposite ends, 7 being fitted "with coupling plates 11, while between the said slats or bars 10 are upper and lower series of outwardly breaking hinges/12, the outermost ones of each series being. provided; with an attachingplate 13 .which is made secureor fastto the corner 7 7 posts 'A adjacent thereto fasteners-l4 Figurelis an elevation of a structureina'... 1 accordance wlth the invention f the same Figure 3 is a side elevation with the struc- 50 join the rail '15 and said posts as is clearly so that in this manner the posts A are connected with the slats or bars 10 whereby the framing constituted thereby can be extended or folded as should be apparent. The hinges 12 are swingingly connected to the plates 11 as at 14 in hinge fashion and in this manner the bed or crib framing structure is unitary but susceptible of extension and contraction.
Adapted to be superimposed upon the top series of connected plates 11 and hinges 12 when thebed or crib frame is extended are top rails '15, each having in each end thereof a nut 16 countersunk therein and retained by a plate 17 made fast thereto the plate 17 being also countersunk while removably fitted in a bore 18 formed transverselyin each post A is a securing bolt 19 having a winged head 20, this Plate being threaded into the nut 16 when removably inserted in the bore 18 in the posts A so as to detachably shown in Figure 8 of the drawings. plane with each other on the extending of 3 the bed or crib structure and such plates 11 and hinges 12 will be concealed within the top rail 15 as will be apparent. 'In this manner the bed or crib frame will be rigidly maintained extended for the occupancy of the bed or crib.
v Adapted to be arranged betweenthe' posts A immediately beneath the lower series of plates 11 and hinges 12 are side and end bottom rails 22 and 22 respectively and'these at their ends are fastened as at 23 identical with the rails 15. Each end rail 22 is substantially of angle formation in cross section and also accommodates the plates 11 and hinges 12 to conceal the same as shown in Figure 7 of the drawings. The rails 22 at opposite ends of the bed or crib carry fasteners 24 for the detachable mounting therei of of a bed or crib spring (not shown).
It will be observed that when the toorail 15 and bottom rails 22 and 22, the said rail 22 being similar to the rail 15are detached from the post A by releasing the fasteners or bolts 19 and 23 the folding or collapsing of the bed or crib structure may be effected. When the bed or crib is extended it is for occupancy, and on contracting or collapsing thereof the same may be conveniently transported and located in a restricted area as it will occupy minimum space.
