GEORGE N. BACON, OF VVILKESBARRE, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPRVEME-NT IN STOVE-COVERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N o. 188,554, dated March 20, 1877 applicatioi tiled September 2, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE N. BACON, of Wilkesbarre, in the county ot' Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Stove- Covers 5' and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of' the same,
reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part ot' this specification, in which- Figure l is a bottom-plan view, showing the two parts of the cover locked together, and Fig. 2, a longitudinal sectional view taken in the line 00 Fig. l.
Similar letters of reference in the accom panying drawings denote the same parts.
My invention consists of a stove-cover constructed oi' two plates, the outer or larger plate being adapted to tit the openings ot' a stove, and the inner or smaller plate fitting within the outer plate, and adapted to be rigidlyconnected to it when desired, as hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawings, A represents the ou'ter or larger plate, formed with an inwardlyprojecting ange, a, and having openings o o o, as seen in Fig. l. B is the inner or smaller plate, provided with lugs l l l, which register with the openings 6.o o in the plate A. The plate B has a liange,-b, which, when said plate is in position, rests on the tlange a, and forms a close joint. Each plate is provided with a socket, S, for the insertion ot' an ordinary cover-lifter.
The central plate B can be readily removed when it is desired to heat a small utensil; but when a large one is to be heated the outer plate AA is removed, carrying with it the plate B. By turning the' inner plate so that the lugs ll l will not register with the openings o o o, the two plates are firmly secured together, and there is no liability of their becoming separated or lost. y
These covers do not crack or warp as badly `as the ordinary solid plates, and do not.
GEORGE N. BACON. Witnesses:
v W. M. FIRM,
DUNCAN WRIGHT.
