Description

UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIGE,
MACK OULBERTON, OF LAKE CITY, MINNESOTA.
IMPROVEMENT IN P'OMADE.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 188,286, dated March 13, 1877; application filed May 27, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MACK GULBERTON, of Lake City, in the county of Wabashaw, in the State of Minnesota, have invented. a certain compound, called Toilet Pomade, for cleansing and purifying the scalp and hair of the human head, of which the following is a specifioation:
The invention consists in compounding together the ingredients in the proportion and in the manner as hereinafter fully set forth.
Take of cocoa or palm soap, one and 011ehalf pound; salts of tartar, six ounces; glycerine, four ounces; oil lavender, one ounce; and'citronella, ten drops. Mix them together,
and submit to heat until the mass is reduced- When cool it is able perfume, and quickly dissolves all extraneous adhering particles to the hair or scalp; can then be removed with the addition of more water as a Wash, thus leaving the scalp free from dandrufl', and the hair perfectly clean, soft, and pliable; is free from the odor or effects of ammonia, as none is used in preparing this composition; is easily compounded, cheap, and can be kept an indefinite length of time.
Having thus fully stated my invention, what I claim is- The hair-pomade composed of cocoa or palm soap, salts of tartar, glycerine, oil lavender, and .citronella, in the proportions substantially as above described.
