, CLEVELAND, oHIo,A ooRroR 'rIoN or 01110 APPARATUS FOR MAxiNe. SOAPSUDS Application filed February 14, 1931. lSer1a1 No. 515,754.:
The present invention relates to dissolving apparatus, and more particularly apparatus for preparing solutions such as of soap, etc; and it is among the objects of the invention to provide apparatus conveniently attachable to a water connection, and being eflicient in control ofa solution of desired strength, Without undue tendency to carry through undissolved particles. Other objects and advantages will appear asthe description proceeds.
To the accomplishment of the'foregoing and related ends, said invention, then, comprises the features herein after fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims, the following description and the annexed drawing setting forth in detail certain structure illustrative of the invention, this being indicative, however, of but one of the various ways in which the principle of the invention may be employed.
In said annexed drawing: Fig. 1 is a side elevational view showing an embodiment of the invention; and Fig. 2 is avertical sectional view on enlarged scale.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, there is shown a container 2. whose form and dimensions may vary, but which conveniently may be of a size adaptable to attachment to a water spigot 3, asuitable connector 4 being provided. A charging openingfi is arranged at the upper portion of the container, and a water inlet connection 6. Desirably, the latter may be arranged with a baflie or partial partition? therebene'ath, such assisting in preventing too extensive currents in the reservoir portion of the container- Extending into the container further down, and
8, and this partition also has perforations 13. At thelower end of the container, a dispreferably well toward the lower end, is a' charge 14 is arranged, such as for convenient discharge into any desired receptacle 15.
In use, the material to be dissolved, for instance, a soft soap or flake soap, is charged in through the opening ,5, and the dissolving liquid, or water, is supplied from the spigot 3, the flow being regulated to the desired rate consistent with the strength of solution or suds wanted. By proper control of the lower inlet 8 by its valve 9, the strength may be gradated as maybe desired. Mixing and I dissolving occurs in the upper compartment above partition 10, and the solution proceeds through the perforations 11 to the lower chamber, where a further mixing with incoming liquid occurs, theresultant solution then passing through perforations 13 and discharging through outlet 14, for instance into a barrel 15 as commonly employed in automobile-washing establishments. The strength of solution may be regulated closely by a proper set of the valve 9, and the spigot may be opened and closed as a main-control.
Other modes of applying the principle of the invention may be employed, change being,
made as regards the details described, provided the means stated in any of the following claims, or the equivalent of such, be employed.
I therefore particularly point out and dis tinctly claim as my invention:
1.. Apparatus of the character described.
comprising a container having a charging opening and a liquid-inlet in its upper portion, a partition in said container beneath said liquid-inlet having perforations, a valvecontrolled liquid-inlet beneath said partition, a perforatedpartition beneath said lastnamed inlet, and a discharge outlet independent of said last-named inlet in the lower por tion of the container;
2. Apparatus of the character described, comprising a container having a charging opening and a liquid-inlet in its upper portion, apartial partition extending horizon tally in the upper portion of said container beneath said liquid inlet, a perforated partition insaid container beneath said partial partition, a valve-controlled liquid-inlet be- Gil neath said partition, another perforated paf i tition beneath said last-named liquid-inlet, and a discharge outlet in the lower portion of the container.
3. Apparatus of the character described,
comprising a container having a charging opening and a liquid-inlet in its upper portion, a partial partition extending horizontally in the upper portion of said container beneath said liquid-inlet, a sloping partition I thereb'eneath having perforations in its low- 1' er portion, a controllable liquid-inlet beneath said last-named partition, a perforat- 7 ed reversely-sloping partition beneath said last-named liquid-inlet, and a discharge out:
F let in the lower portion of the container.
Signed by me this 6th day of February,
1931. PHILIP o, DOYLE.
