The movement of plate 33 is also synchronous with the movement of perforated cards 45 (Fig.
  • the plate 33 may be stopped prior to the time that the cross head 30 completes its upward movement in which case pawl 31 merely rides out of engagement with the related notch 32 permitting an upward independent movement of the cross head 30. As the cross head is moved reversely downwardly the pawl 31 will re-enter the notch 32 to positively restore the plate 33 to its normal position.
