IVhen the pad is to be used the drawer is withdrawn from the body 10 until the lugs 11 and 112 reach the end of slot 15 and then further withdrawal of said drawer causes plate member 13 to move out until lugs 14 abut the forward ends of slots 12. The pad then eX- tends beyond the base B and there is ample room for jotting down numbers, names, and the like. The double sliding action made possible by the structure employed permits the use of a large sized pad since the drawer may be completely removed from within the said body 10 withoutdetachment from the same. Y

For smooth operation suitable spring guiding walls 104 may be arranged on `the side edges" of the opening 10 to slidably engage the side walls 13 of said plate member 13. If desiredone of the side walls of said drawer 11 maybe cut away as at 11b to Jfacilitate handling of the pages of the pad. Another mode of construction is shown in Figs. and 6.

Here the body is the same as before. Instead of the double slot arrangement of the first modification, however, a single vraised slot 19 in the bottom of said body extending `diametrically and centrally located with respect to the opening 10', is provided. Pivoted to the bottom of said support along the same diametrical line as said slot is one end of an expansible member such as a lazy-tong construction 20 the sliding central pivots 20 of which are designed to slidably engage in said central slot 19 and be guided therein. 'Ihe forward or outward end 19 of said slot 19 is open. Y.

A suitable drawer 21 so admeasured as to slidably fit in the opening 10 and frictionally engage the guiding walls 104 is pivotally attached to the forward free end 202 of said lazy-tong construction, whereby when said drawer is withdrawn from the support said lazy-tongconstruction will unfold forming a support forthe said drawer.

This swinging feature increases the convenience Aof use of said device. f

The pivot at the forward free end 202 of the lazy-tong construction need( not be guided inthe slot/19 unless so desired. Itis sufficient if the remaining central pivots 20 are-so: guided by providing projections 203 thereon which project downwardly into said guide slot 19 and are burred over therein to prevent removal therefrom. Furthermore the said lazy-tong construction is so` admeasured that when the same is completely extended the foremost central pivot 20 does not extend beyond the open end of slot 19. This insures the proper guiding of the drawer into its retracted position at al1 times.

Of course my device may be modified in many ways without departing from the spirit of my invention and I do not wish to be limited to the details shown and described..

What I claim is 1. In a device attachable to a desk telephone stand, a` cup shaped body whose circumferential wall is capable offrictionally engaging the base of said stand to forman extension thereof, a withdrawableA member 'slidablysecured in said body serving as a support for a memorandum pad, expanding meansv for permitting complete withdrawal of said member from said body without detachment fromthe same and for supporting said member, said 4member being capable of rotationabout said expanding means in withdrawnv position. n Y f 2. In a, device attachable'toa desk telephone stand, a cup shaped body'having an open top of such diameter as to snugly fit around the circumferential edge of the base portion of sand stand, an annular bead on the inner face of said cup below its open top to serve as a rest for said base and a member slidably mounted in said body and serving as a support for a memorandum device or other article.

3. In a device attachable to a desk telephone stand having a padding around the bottom part of its base, a cup shaped body whose upper edge in diameter is so admeasured as to snugly embrace and frictionally engage said padded portion of said base, and which is formed with an annular inner bead below said upper edge to serve as a rest for said base, and a drawer mounted in said cap for holding` a memorandum device or other articles.

4f. In a device as per claim 3, in which the drawer is composed of at least two superposed interengaging sections, means for slidably engaging the lowermost section with said cup, means for slidably limiting the sliding movement of the lowermost section, means for limiting the sliding movement of the sections relative to one another and a memorandum device attached to the uppermost section.

5. In a device attachable to a desk telephone stand, comprising a cup shaped body whose upper circumferential edge in diameter is so admeasured as to snugly embrace and frictionally engage the base portion of said sta-nd, an annular bead projecting from the inner face of said cup below its upper edge to serve as a rest for said base, a support for a memorandum pad slidably mounted in said cup and expandible means between said support and said cup to slidably engage and guide said support in said cup.
