This invention relates to new and novel improvements in dispensing apparatus and while capable of application generally wherever it may be advantageously applied, it is 5 particularly intended for use as a fire extinguisher in which connection it is illustrated in the drawing and hereinafter described.
Objects of the invention are to provide a dispensing apparatus of simple, durable confl struction, which may be provided at a low cost and which may be conveniently used and which will be extremely efiicient in use.
A particular object is to provide a fire extinguisher of very simple construction, which may be loaded and permanently sealed whereby it may be kept indefinitely without impairing its efficiency, and, which may be manufactured at a low cost whereby it may be discarded after use.

Proceeding now to a detailed description of the invention with particular referenceto the adaptation thereof illustrated in the drawing, the numeral 5 is usedto denote the main body of, the casing. A suitable quantity of carbonate of [soda or other gas producing element is placed within the chamber 19 of the member 7 and sulphuric acid or other gas producing substance is-placed withinthe glass ball 7 which is adhesively secured in the seat 10. The member 7 is provided on the-rounded end 8 thereof with a block 21 which is soldered or otherwise suitably secured thereon. The arrangement is such that one side of the ball is in-close spaced relation to the wall 8 of the portions 7 of the casing. The collapsible tube 18 is filled with carbon tetrachlorid or other fire extinguishing liquid.
l/Vhen it is necessary to use my improved fire extinguisher, the block 21 is brought into contact with some object with suificient force to indent the wall 8 of the portion 7 of the casing and break the glass ball 11. The acid within the ball unites with the gas producing element in the cavity 19, quickly forming an expansible'for'ce therein. The ring 18 is then engaged and the strip 17 is forcibly torn from the end portion 6 of the casing 5; The
gas formed by uniting the gas producing elements passes throughthe openings 20 in the member 9 and compresses the collapsible tube 13 whereby the contents thereof will be forced outwardly through the openings 15 and 16.
